St. Petersburg in the 1920s - Jack Handsome knows how to get the paper to print his fabricated headlines, but can he win the heart of Flora Day, the editor's skeptical daughter?
AUDITIONS: Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 630 pm and Monday, February 24, 2020 at 6:30 pm
PRODUCTION DATES: April 17 - 26, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, Sundays at 2:00 pm with Possible Additions - Thursday, April 16 and Thursday, April 23, 2020
REHEARSAL DATES: Beginning March 2, 2020. Rehearsals are Monday - Thursday evenings at 6:30 and Sunday afternoons 2:00 - 6:00.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Open to all. Attend either audition date; no appointment necessary. Please prepare 16 bars of a Musical Theatre song (in your key) that showcases your range and personality. Bring sheet music; a pianist will be provided. No acapella or recorded music. Wear or bring proper dance attire as a movement combination may be taught (no sandals or flip-flops). There may be cold readings from the script. Please bring a list of any conflicts to the audition. Audition forms will be provided, but resume would also be helpful. Photo will be taken.

Jack Handsome - Male lead, bari-tenor, 20 - 30s. Ingenious publicist who creates news to promote Sunshine City. Flora Day - Female lead, 20 - 30s. Soprano w/belt. Assistant Editor of Sunny Day News and daughter of Editor, Douglas. A modern woman of the 20s, Pragmatic and not at all romantic.
Douglas Day - Male, 50s/60s. Baritone. Editor of Sunny Day News and Father of Flora. Good-natured, practical newsman.
Hey Kid – Male or female, 10-15 years old. Newsboy (girl) and friend of Jack.
Mother McAuley – Female, 60's, good-hearted Mother-hen proprietor of the local boarding house.
Mayor Holiday - Male 50s. Baritone. Mayor of Sunshine City.
Dale E. Larson - Male, 40s. Bass/Baritone. Con Artist, villain. Raised Jack as his own son.
Baron von Bustenhalter - Any age, Bari-tenor. Old cohort of Larson and Jack.
Ophelia Hotweather – Character Soprano, 50s/60s. Dowager, Chairwoman of the St Petersburg League of Upright Citizens.
