Producers for The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre have announced the date of auditions for the Frederick-area premiere of the hit musical comedy Sister Act.
Based on the hit 1992 motion picture starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act is a Heavenly musical comedy sensation. When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.
Auditions will be held on Monday, June 26th beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Way Off Broadway. The theatre is located at 5 Willowdale Drive in Frederick, Maryland, just off Route 40 West in the Willowtree Plaza.
Those auditioning are asked to bring a headshot and resume, as well as 16 bars of prepared music and be ready to sing, dance, and read from the script. All roles are open and non-union paying. Those auditioning must be at least 18 years old. All ethnicities are encouraged to attend. No appointments are necessary and an accompanist will be provided.

Sister Act runs from September 8 – October 28, 2017, with performances everyFriday and Saturday evening, and matinees on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month.
The show has music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and a book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner. Way Off Broadway’s production will be directed by Bill Kiska, with choreography by Dee Buchanan and music direction by Jordan B. Stocksdale.
