Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, NY will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of Significant Other, written by Joshua Harmon and directed by Kathleen Mahan. Significant Other This updated take on the rom-com formula is a funny and bittersweet exploration of the quest for connection and commitment in our contemporary world.

Jordan Berman is on a quest to find his own “Mr. Right.” His close-knit group of girlfriends is getting married one by one, leaving him to wonder why life won’t grant him the same fairytale ending. As he navigates this transition from gay best friend to bridesman, he wades through romantic
CAST REQUIREMENTS: (4 Females, 3 Males)
Jordan Berman: Male, late twenties. The central character, Jordan is gay, Jewish, intelligent, neurotic, funny … and single. And still a romantic at heart.
Laura: Female, late twenties. Jordan’s best friend is ambitious and intelligent, and the emotional anchor of the group.
Vanessa: Female, late twenties. She is strong and stylish, with a dry sense of humor.
Kiki: Female, late twenties. The first to tie the knot, Kiki is brash and hilarious – the life of the party.
Helene Berman: Female, seventies or eighties. Jordan’s grandmother. Still forceful even as her memory fades, she fiercely loves Jordan.
Will/Conrad/Tony: Male, late twenties. Will is Jordan’s attractive but aloof colleague. Conrad is Kiki’s humorless fiancé/husband. Tony, Laura’s fiancé/husband, is a good guy.
Gideon/Evan/Roger: Male, late twenties. Gideon has one date with Jordan but hasn’t gotten over his ex. Evan is Jordan’s melodramatic and annoying colleague. Roger is Vanessa’s fiancé/husband, a stand-up guy who adores her.
