About:
Produced in partnership with The City of Alpharetta- Recreation, Parks and Cultural Services and Arcadia Theater.
In Romeo & Juliet, Shakespeare creates a violent world, in which two young people fall in love. It is not simply that their families disapprove; the Montagues and the Capulets are engaged in a blood feud.
In this death-filled setting, the movement from love at first sight to the lovers’ final union in death seems almost inevitable. And yet, this play set in an extraordinary world has become the quintessential story of young love. In part because of its exquisite language, it is easy to respond as if it were about all young lovers.
PLEASE NOTE: This show will be extremely physically demanding, with the ensemble playing a major part in the production overall. We will also be performing most shows outdoors, and thus will be at the mercy of the elements. The cast will help with the set up and strike of costumes, props, sets and all related items (tents, sound equipment, light equipments, etc.) for each performance. Additionally, it is possible weather may cause the cancellation of one or more shows. Please take all of this into consideration when auditioning and before accepting a role.
Intimacy and fight coordinators will be available for assistance and guidance.
Audition Process:
Auditions will be held at the ACT1’s MainStage at 180 Academy St., Alpharetta, GA 3009. For your audition, please prepare a memorized Shakespearean monologue. Auditioners may prepare any Shakespearean monologue, but for those who may need some assistance in selecting a monologue, the director has provided some suggestions linked below.
