NEW STAGE THEATRE IS SEEKING YOUTH ACTORS FOR PETER PAN
New Stage Theatre will be holding open auditions on Sunday, August 24, for youth actors who can sing, for its production of the musical Peter Pan.
The theatre is seeking young actors to play the roles of Peter Pan and the Darling family children Wendy, John and Michael. Young actors are also needed to portray the Lost Boys in the show.
Boys and girls ages 7-18 are encouraged to attend the auditions. No experience is necessary. Those auditioning will be taught sections of a song, scene and dance during the casting session and will be asked to perform what they learned as their audition. The audition will start at 1:00 p.m. Children wishing to audition should arrive at the theatre with an adult at12:45 to register and complete a form for the audition. A recent picture is required for the audition.
Peter Pan will begin rehearsals on November 9. The production will open onDecember 4 and run through December 21, 2014. There will also be performances January 6 through January 18, 2015.
New Stage Theatre has contracted with ZFX Flying Effects from Huntington Beach, California to install special flying effects for the production. The actors cast in the roles of Peter Pan and the Darling children will be “flown” for the show.
The audition is Sunday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. and they will be in the auditorium at New Stage Theatre, 1100 Carlisle Street, Jackson, MS 39202. Registration for the audition begins at 12:45 p.m. For more information please call

FIRST SESSION FOR YOUNG ACTING TROUPE IS AUGUST 23
New Stage resumes the Young Actor Troupe (YAT) classes on August 23, 2014. Students learn from both exercises as well as rehearsing for performances in the Metro area. The troupe meets Saturday mornings from10am to 12pm at the Warehouse Theatre, 1000 Monroe Street. The troupe is led and instructed by Kerri Sanders and Education Director Chris Roebuck.
The cost is $100 per month. Registration is open through September 27, 2014.
YAT has performs in various venues throughout the metro area including the Willie Morris Library, The Mississippi Children’s Museum, New Stage’s Warehouse Theatre and on the company’s main stage. Last spring, YAT performed Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at Belhaven Park and Highland Village.
