In 1960s Brighton, an easily confused Francis Henshall becomes separately employed by two men – Roscoe Crabbe, a local gangster and Stanley Stubbers, an upper class criminal. Francis tries to keep the two from meeting, in order to avoid each of them learning that Francis is also working for someone else. An award winning English adaptation of Servant of Two Masters, 1 MAN 2 GUVERNORS is a glorious celebration of British comedy – a unique, laugh-out-loud mix of satire, songs, slapstick and glittering one-liners. The Guardian gave it 5 stars, saying that it was A triumph of visual and verbal comedy. One of the funniest productions in the National’s history.

Charlie Clench- A retired gangster whose.

Pauline Clench Charlie’s beloved daughter and the dumbest of blondes.

Harry Dangle Alan’s father and Charlie’s solicitor. Dapper and faintly sleazy.

Alan Dangle An attractive, aspiring actor and Pauline’s fiancé.
Dolly Charlie’s bossy and voluptuous employee.
Lloyd Boateng An old friend of Charlie’s, originally from Trinidad, now retired from a criminal career. Black male with a Jamaican accent.
Rachel Crabbe A young woman who has disguised herself as her murdered twin brother, Roscoe, a small-time East End hood. spends most of the show disguised as a man.

Francis Henshall The cheeky, chubby protagonist who will stop at nothing to take advantage of an opportunity. He finds himself employed by two separate bosses and will stop at nothing to keep them from learning about one another.
Stanley Stubbers A lounge lizard who strides about confidently, strong on arrogance but weak on ethics. He is in love with Rachel.
Alfie A waiter. physical comedian with gymnastic skills.

Gareth A waiter. Efficient and streamlines with great facial expressions.

Ensemble There are several ensemble parts from a police officer to a bartender.
