OCEAN STATE THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES
CHILDREN’S AUDITIONS FOR 2013-14 SEASON
Ocean State Theatre Company announces Open Children’s Auditions for its 2013-14 productions of Les Misérables, Miracle on 34th Street and The Diary of Anne Frank. Needed are:
Les Misérables
A strong male actor/singer to play the role of Gavroche. Children auditioning should look no older than 12 years old.
Two female actresses to portray the roles of young Cosette and young Eponine. Children auditioning should look no older than ten years old. Those auditioning for young Cosette, should possess a clear soprano voice and be able to speak with proper English diction. Young Eponine is a non-speaking/non-singing role, but will understudy young Cosette.
Children auditioning for all roles will be asked to demonstrate the ability to follow directions.
Selected children will need to be available for afternoon, evening and weekend rehearsals and performances from September 14 – October 27,2013.
Miracle on 34th Street
A strong female actress/singer to portray the role of Susan Walker. Children auditioning should look no older than nine years old.
There is also a need for four - five children between the ages of 6 and 16 years old, who are interested in singing and dancing in the acting ensemble for the production. It is especially important that the children demonstrate the ability to follow directions.
Selected children will need to be available for afternoon, evening and weekend rehearsals and performances from November 19 – December 29,2013.
The Diary of Anne Frank
A strong female actress to portray the role of Anne Frank. Children auditioning should be between 13 and 18 years old and look no older than 16 years old.
A strong male actor to portray the role of Peter Van Daan. Children auditioning should be between 13 and 18 years old and look no older than 16 years old.
Selected children will need to be available for afternoon, evening and weekend rehearsals and performances from March 11 – April 13, 2014.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 13 from 5:00 – 9:00 pm at:

Those auditioning should enter through the main lobby doors and bring their headshot or a recent photo and resume (if available). If auditioning for plays only, no singing is required. Children will be asked to do cold readings from the script. If auditioning for musicals, children should come with a short prepared song preferably with sheet music. A cappella is also acceptable. No tape recorders or CD players. Those asked to stay will learn a short dance combination. Please bring or wear appropriate shoes for dancing. Sign-up will begin at 4:30 pm.
