Buzz Theatre Productions announces auditions for Nunsense: The Mega-Musical Version. All the hilarity of Nunsense but supersized! The Little Sisters of Hoboken must raise money quickly. The convent cook has accidently poisoned 52 of the sisters and, due to a grave miscalculation, the remaining sisters have run out of funds for the burials. Therefore, they have decided to put on a variety show in the school’s auditorium, currently set up for the 8th graders’ production of Grease.
The show will be directed by Jo Ann Ventor with musical direction by Greg Paradis.
Auditions will be held Monday, April 4 from 7:00-10:00 pm and Wednesday, April 6th from 7:00-8:00 with callbacks to immediately follow the April 6th audition from 8:00-10:00 pm. Both audition dates and callbacks will take place at Studio 237, a new state-of-the-art performance space located at 237 Hamburg Turnpike, Pompton Lakes, NJ. Show dates are June 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th at Studio 237.
Seeking five principal woman, one featured woman/man and four ensemble roles as follows:
Sister Mary Regina-Mother Superior, requires physical humor and ability to interact with audience. The character may be played with an Irish accent. Voice part: mezzo/belter.
Sister Mary Hubert-second in command and in constant competition with Mary Regina. Voice part: Mezzo/belter

Sister Robert Anne-speaks with a thick Brooklyn accent and constantly displays her lack of refinement. Vocal part: Mezzo/belter
Sister Mary Amnesia-has lost her memory and does not know who she is except that she is a nun. Interacts with the audience and a puppet. Vocal part: Soprano/belter
Sister Mary Leo-the novice nun, still learning the way and coming to terms with her decision to give up "civilian " life. Requires ballet. Vocal part: mezzo/belter
Sister Julia, Child of God-convent cook, to be played by a woman or man impersonating Julia Child.
Brothers/Sisters Brendan, Luke, Wilhelm, Virgil-can be played by men or women.
Tap dancing skills are a plus for all roles except Mary Regina (Mother Superior).
Please prepare 16-32 measures of a Broadway song that demonstrates your vocal range and abilities. Please bring your sheet music as an accompanist will be provided. You may also be asked to read from the show. Sides will be provided at the audition.
Rehearsals will take place at Studio 237 on Sundays from 4:00-8:00 pm, Mondays from 7:00-10:00 pm and Wednesdays from 7:00-10:00 pm beginning April 10th. Additional rehearsals may be added as needed. A $75 participation fee is required if cast.
