The Downtown Cabaret Theatre (Bridgeport, CT) is seeking professional Non- Equity performers of all types and ethnicities for lead and supporting roles in our “New Works” production of MAGIC: THE DANCE MUSICAL.
Please note: This is a heavy dance production. A background in ballroom dance is a MUST

Seeking (Both Principle Cast and Understudies):
Pam Chapman: 25-40, female, dance student stuck in a soulless marriage
(Mezzosoprano, vocal range G3 to Eb5, singing & ballroom dancing intensive)
Bob Sanders: 25-40, male dance student recently jilted by fiancée:
(Baritone vocal range A2 to Eb4, singing & ballroom dancing intensive)
Bailey: 25-70 male dance instructor
(Baritone vocal range A2 to E4, singing intensive role, some basic ballroom dance included)
Bryce Chapman: 30-40 male, Pam’s abusive husband
(Brief speaking part only without dancing; will double as Santa. Brief singing. Vocal range B2 to C#4 range. Will double as Second Dance Instructor (brief speaking part only)
Description:
The Downtown Cabaret Theatre’s Main Stage, awakening from its pandemic-imposed dormancy, will inaugurate a new season of plays and musicals by celebrating a new work by a new local author, Dr. Jim Gadzik.
MAGIC – THE DANCE MUSICAL tells the story of Bob, recently jilted by his fiancée, and Pam, involved in a loveless marriage, who are offered free ballroom dance lessons by an intriguing instructor on a weekend before Christmas. Poignant and family-friendly, this holiday-themed musical, with a score of 25 selections, features new local talent under the guidance of a first-class creative team, led by Executive Producer, Hugh Hallinan and Directed by local Broadway veteran Frank Root.

Compensation:
Rehearsals: $250 per week
Performances: $100 per show

Prepare to sing 16 bars of 2 songs (one up-tempo and one ballad) of your choosing. Please bring your headshot and resume. Please also be prepared for an on-sight dance call-back.
