MOTHERS AND SONS - Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

CINCINNATI PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK TO AUDITION CHILDREN
JAN. 11 FOR MOTHERS AND SONS

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will hold auditions on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, for the young boy’s role in Terrence McNally’s MOTHERS AND SONS. The Playhouse is seeking a 6 to 10-year-old male Caucasian actor who can convincingly (physically) play the 6-year-old Bud, who is the son of two gay dads. All three are in a loving, stable and committed relationship. Bud is sharp and has a naturally outgoing personality.

Though the actor playing Bud will not be required to engage in dialogue or stage business that would be inappropriate for a 6-year-old, the show does contain some basic information about AIDS, as well as mortality, that is appropriate to the maturity level of a precocious 6-year-old child.
Parents/guardians should email a resume of any experience to the Playhouse, along with a photograph (a good quality school or family photo is acceptable). The resume and photo must be emailed again even if they have been sent in the past. The resume must include exact birth date and height, as well as an email address and telephone number. At the audition, children will be asked to share a one-minute monologue, story or poem. Cold readings will be available.
Interested children must be available for all rehearsals of this production, most of which are scheduled around school hours. Children must also be available for all performances of the show, which are scheduled Tuesdays through Sundays from March 18 to April 17, including one weekday public matinee.
Photographs and resumes should be emailed to the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park to
kristin.clippard@cincyplay.com. The deadline for consideration is Jan. 6, 2016. Those selected to audition will be contacted by telephone to schedule specific times. Audition location and other details will be provided when appointments are made.

The Playhouse is supported, in part, by the generosity of the tens of thousands of individuals and businesses that give to ArtsWave. The Ohio Arts Council helps fund the Playhouse with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. The Playhouse also receives funding from the Shubert Foundation.
