MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET - New Stage Theatre

New Stage Theatre is holding an open audition on Monday, October 10, to find actors, musicians, band members for its upcoming production of a Million Dollar Quartet. The theatre is seeking actor/musicians to play the iconic roles of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis at the time they gathered for a historical recording session at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee on December 4, 1956. The theatre is also seeking a drummer and slap bass player. Independent bands are encouraged to attend the audition.

The theatre is seeking men, in the age range of 20-29 to play the roles. Jerry Lee Lewis candidates must be able to play the piano in the manner of his style. Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash candidates must be able to play the guitar. The auditions for the production’s director and music director will take place on Monday, October 10, at New Stage Theatre, 1100 Carlisle Street; Jackson, MS 39202. No experience is needed to audition.

The audition will be at 6:00 p.m. with registration beginning at 5:45 p.m. Musician/actors should bring a recent photo for the theatre to keep. An appointment is not required but space is limited and people will be seen on a first come first served basis and should expect the audition to last until 8:00 p.m. Auditionees should bring their instruments. A piano will be available for people auditioning for Jerry Lee Lewis.

Million Dollar Quartet is the new smash-hit musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.

On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. Million Dollar Quartet brings that legendary night to life, featuring a score of rock hits including Blue Suede Shoes, Fever, That's All Right, Sixteen Tons, Great Balls of Fire, Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, Who Do You Love?, Matchbox, Folsom Prison Blues, Hound Dog and more.

Raised in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Randy Redd made his Broadway debut in Parade at Lincoln Center directed by Harold Prince. Other Broadway credits include Million Dollar Quartet directed by Eric Schaeffer and Ring of Fire directed by Richard Maltby. Off-Broadway and regional credits include Million Dollar Quartet (New World Stages), The Burnt Part Boys (Playwrights Horizons) directed by Joe Calarco, Terrence McNally’s Some Men(Second Stage) directed by Trip Cullman, Lucky Stiff (York Theater) directed by Graciela Daniele, Blood Brothers (“Mickey”), On the Town (“Chip”), Smoke on the Mountain (“Dennis”), Forever Plaid (“Sparky”). He has worked as an actor, director and musical director at such theaters as Manhattan Theater Club, Lincoln Center Theater, The Atlantic Theater Company, The Lamb’s Theater, Naked Angels, Second Stage, The Kennedy Center, Goodspeed Opera House, The Geffen Playhouse, The York Theater, and multiple regional theatres. The theatre will also be scheduling appointments to audition for the roles of Dyanne, a young aspiring singer and Elvis’s girlfriend and the non-sing role of Sam Phillips, the father of Rock-n-Roll and founder of Sun Records. Actors interested in audition for Dyanne and Sam Phillips should call
