About IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE:
A Play in Two Acts by James W. Rodgers
Based upon the film by Frank Capra – and the story by Philip Van Doren Stern

Help Clarence get his wings! Celebrate the season with George Bailey, Clarence and the town of Bedford Falls with this heart-warming holiday classic. This is the heart-warming saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been repeatedly quashed by notions of family obligation and civic duty. It is Christmas Eve, and George's guardian angel, Clarence, descends to save him from despair and to remind him (by showing him what the world would be like had he never been born) that his has been after all, a wonderful life. A story which truly celebrates the season and the American philosophy of life: that hard work, fair play, and the love and support of family and community will be rewarded.

About the Directors: Gareth Kelly and Anthony Scimonelli

Gareth Kelly is thrilled to have the opportunity to work on the stage version of one of his favorite films! Having first met and worked with co-director Anthony Scimonelli in the early 90s as student actors in HCC’s Arts Collective’s first production, The American Dream, he feels as though fate has brought him full circle somehow. He caught the acting bug in 1987 as a student at Centennial High School and went on to act, direct, and produce in area theaters for the past 20 years. While most of his free time these days is spent as a devoted father and husband, he did get the opportunity to creak the boards somewhat recently as Roy Cohn in Arts Collective's 2010 production of Angels in America. Gareth recently became a licensed real estate salesperson.

Anthony Scimonelli is so pumped to be co-directing It’s a Wonderful Life with Gareth! Anthony has performed in many AC productions from 1994-2013; his most recent was last season’s Why Am I Not Famous? He was artistic associate with The Baltimore Shakespeare Festival from 2004-2008 and is currently an artistic associate with Pumpkin Theatre in Baltimore. He has worked as a designer, musician and actor with Spotlight UB at the University of Baltimore from 2008-2014 where he is currently pursuing his MA – his thesis concentration combines the healing arts with the performing arts through a one-man show; Learning To Let Go. This production marks his return to directing with AC after 15 years (Nobody In Particular). Anthony and Gareth performed onstage together in Arts Collective’s first production twenty years ago with Edward Albee’s An American Dream, directed by S.G. Kramer.
