Girl Be Heard Announces Auditions for New Members
Tuesday, January 14th, 2014
5:00 to 7:00 pm
Girl Be Heard seeks performers, song-writers, dancers, writers and activists --
young women ages 12 through 21 ONLY -- to join the theatre company.
Through writing and acting workshops, Girl Be Heard is an ensemble that generates cutting-edge theatre about what it means to be a girl in today's world. Workshops take place on Sundayafternoons from 2pm to 5pm.
Girl Be Heard has performed at the White House, United Nations, Off Broadway and has gone on National Tours. Company members have the opportunity to be selected for these special engagements.
** AUDITION CALL **
Young women of all ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, religions, nationalities, and abilities are strongly encouraged to audition. We seek girls of all backgrounds, including LGBTQ, immigrants and differently-abled girls. Fluency or ability in foreign languages is a plus; Chinese, Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.
To request a slot, e-mail a photo/resume (if you have one) and a note with why you want to be part of Girl Be Heard to
auditions@girlbeheard.org.
You do not need to have a professional photo/resume to be considered.
For the audition, please prepare a short piece (2 minutes or under) -- written by you,
in your voice -- addressing an issue you are passionate about. Write a song, a poem, scene or spoken word piece. Feel free to step dance and shout out your piece. This is your time to show us who you are and what is important to you. You do not need to memorize this piece. Everyone will be scheduled in 5-minute slots. Your slot will include your performance of the work and a brief interview.
Please review our website before the audition,
girlbeheard.org.
There is no fee associated with Girl Be Heard membership.
Girl Be Heard is an equal opportunity employer
of artists of diverse cultural backgrounds and abilities.
