On February 11 and 12, the Provincetown Theater will hold open auditions for non-union actors at their playhouse at 238 Bradford Street in Provincetown, MA for a slated spring production of Harvey Fierstein’s 2014 Tony-nominated play Casa Valentina.
Inspired by the true story of a mid-century sanctuary in the Catskill for men who dressed as women, Casa Valentina follows a group of men who’ve gathered for a solitary weekend at the mountain resort in the summer of 1962.
To be directed by Provincetown Theater Artistic Director David Drake, all actors cast in Casa Valentina will be paid an honorarium of $500 for their participation in the production. Rehearsals would begin April 1 for a five-week rehearsal period to be scheduled around actors’ availability; anticipate evening and weekend rehearsals. Casa Valentina would perform weekends, May 11-28.
