Barbara Cook Master Class at Wall to Wall Cabaret - Symphony Space
Musical theatre singers aged 18 and over are invited to audition for three open slots in a free master class, given by legendary singer, actress and Kennedy Center honoree Barbara Cook. The master class will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, from 3:00 - 4:00pm, kicking off Wall to Wall Cabaret, Symphony Space’s 37th annual day-long musical marathon, which this year celebrates the artists, comics, and composers who have brought the cabaret tradition vibrantly to life. Described by the New York Times as Symphony Space’s “Annual gift to the City of New York,” this year’s marathon is produced by Joel Fram, directed by Annette Jolles, and features dozens of emerging and established cabaret artists including Marilyn Maye, Barbara Carroll, Andrea Marcovicci, Billy Stritch, Julie Halston, Aaron Weinstein, Molly Pope, Taylor Mac, and many, many more. Audition Details: Location: Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (at 95th Street) Tuesday, April 22nd, 2:00 - 7:00pm Registration for audition times will open at 1:00pm on the day of the audition, and can be made in person only. Auditions will be assigned on a first-come, first serve basis and will be open to the first 100 applicants. Please prepare one 32-bar song from the ‘golden era’ American Songbook (George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, etc.), either ballad or uptempo. Please make sure you bring the appropriate sheet music and that it is in the correct key. A pianist will be provided.
