Brave enough to sword fight in a skirt?

Brigadoon auditions seeking dancers, singers and actors aged 16-65

Are you brave enough to sword fight in a skirt?

If so, then TheatreZone artistic director Mark Danni wants you. Today, Danni and Steffanie Pearce, artistic director at Gulfshore Opera announced auditions for Brigadoon, the Tony-award winning Broadway musical Danni is stage directing. The production is a joint collaboration between both non-profit arts organizations.

Brigadoon auditions (by appointment only) take place Saturday August 29, 2015 from 10 am until 3 pm, at the First Presbyterian Church located at 9751 Bonita Beach Road in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Brigadoon is a timeless tale by the talented team that created My Fair Lady, with music composed by Frederick Loewe and Book & Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, about two New Yorkers who accidently discover a magical village that comes to life for one day every one hundred years,” explains Danni. “They meet delightful people in the midst of wedding preparations, buying and selling from the Fair. Although the town is surreal, the residents are not; their hopes and dreams speak to us as clearly as any contemporary setting. Amidst beautiful music, dancing, and clever dialog, you will believe that miracles can happen,” he believes. Brigadoon includes a 19-piece live orchestra music conducted by TheatreZone veteran music director Charles Fornara.

Danni says he is seeking trained actors, singers and dancers, from ages 16-65 to fill principal and chorus roles comprised of Equity (Guest Artist) and non-Equity performers including three talented sword dancers who perform a traditional celebratory Wedding-Dance and the daring Sword Dance and Reel in a kilted tartan.

“Our staging includes Scottish dancing (similar to American square dancing), so we are looking for a cast that can move!” adds choreographer Karen Molnar.

Professionals should submit electronically résumé and audio/video clips to
info@gulfshoreopera.org. To schedule an appointment, email Danielle Ranno at
