CCftA and director, Steve Ross, invite you to attend auditions for the classic dark comedy, “Arsenic & Old Lace” to be held on Sat Nov 9th, 9:00am – 12:00 pm and Sun Nov 10, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, both at the Art Studio. The performance dates are Jan 30 – Feb 16th. Auditions will consist of reading from prepared sides. Be prepared to have some fun! Mortimer Brewster is living a happy life: he has a steady job at a prominent New York newspaper, he’s just become engaged, and he gets to visit his sweet spinster aunts to announce the engagement. Mortimer always knew that his family had a bit of a mad gene -- his brother believes himself to be Teddy Roosevelt and his great-grandfather used to scalp Indians for pleasure -- but his world is turned upside down when he realizes that his dear aunts have been poisoning lonely old men for years! When Mortimer’s maniacal brother, Jonathan. (who strangely now resembles Boris Karloff) returns on the night that the aunts were planning to bury the newest victim, Mortimer must rally to help his aunts and protect his fiancé -- all while trying to keep his own sanity. as well. Dr. Harper: Minister and father of Elaine, 40’s – 60’s Teddy Brewster: Nephew of Abby and Martha Brewster, Teddy 40’s – 50’s, who thinks that he is Theodore Roosevelt. Elaine Harper: Mortimer’s fiancée, 20’s – 40’s, Elaine is the daughter of the Rev. Dr. Harper. She is surprisingly wise in the ways of the world for a minister's daughter. Mortimer Brewster: 20’s – 40’s, Nephew of Abby and Martha, Mortimer is a drama critic who is engaged to Elaine. He is a nice man who cares for his aunts. Jonathan Brewster: 30’s – 50’s, Nephew of Abby and Martha Brewster, Jonathan is a psychopath who has had plastic surgery and now looks like Boris Karloff. Dr. Einstein: A plastic surgeon and an alcoholic 40’s – 70’s, Dr. Einstein has changed Jonathan's face three times. Mr. Gibbs: A man who wishes to rent a room from the Brewster sisters Officer O'Hara: A police officer, O’Hara is a would-be playwright who pesters Mortimer to read his play.
