ANGELS in AMERICA

Audition Information:
Angels in America will be performed in two productions, one year apart. It is our intention to retain the same cast for both Millennium Approaches this June and Perestroika next June. The first cast will be given right of refusal for the second show, and we will only recast roles if a cast member cannot perform the second play.
The main cast will include 8 actors (5 men, 3 women), plus 8 additional actors as the “Machinae” (a stylized chorus/crew focused on movement, environment, and magic).
Please bring 2 prepared 30 second monologues. They should be contrasting, modern/contemporary and should show off your dramatic/comedic range. Please do not prepare monologues from Angels.
There will also be short readings of scenes from the play(s). As the actors must play multiple characters, be prepared to read many different roles to best showcase your range.

MEN
Prior Walter (Age 25-40)a WASP-ish young gay man with AIDS, occasionally works as a club designer – also plays Man in park
Roy M. Cohn (Age 50-70)a successful New York lawyer, a fictional representation of the real life Roy Cohn – Also plays Prior 2 and the Angel Antarctica
Joseph Porter Pitt (Age 25-40)a repressed homosexual Mormon and a chief clerk at the court of appeals – Also plays Prior 1, the Eskimo, Diorama Father, Angel Europa
Louis Ironson (Age 25-40) a word processor at the court and Prior’s Jewish boyfriend – Also plays Angel Australia
Belize (Age 25-40) a registered nurse and former drag queen – Also plays Mr. Lies, Caleb Voice, Angel Oceana
WOMEN
Harper Amaty Pitt (Age 25-40)an agoraphobic Mormon, wife to Joe, with a Valium addiction – Also plays Martin Heller, Angel Africanii
Hannah Porter Pitt (Age 45-65) Joe’s mother, devout Mormon, formerly of Salt Lake City– Also plays Rabbi Chemelwitz, Henry, Ethel Rosenberg, Aleksii, Angel Asiatica
The Angel (Any, Age 20-50) four divine emanations (Fluor, Phosphor, Lumen and Candle) manifest in one – Also plays Emily, Sister Ella Chapter, Homeless Woman, Orrin Voice, Diorama Mother
