The Sherman Playhouse Holds Casting Call for
A British Christmas 'Panto' of
“Aladdin”
September 16 & 17, 2013
The Sherman Playhouse is seeking a large cast of children and adults for its upcoming Holiday production, ALADDIN.
ALADDIN marks the third consecutive year The Sherman Playhouse has presented a successful 'Panto' or Pantomime in the British style for its theatrical Holiday offering. To make it very clear: there is absolutely no “miming” in British pantomimes. A Panto is like an American musical comedy with vaudeville routines. There are tuneful songs, funny jokes, and lots of audience participation.
All auditions will be held at The Sherman Playhouse, 5 Route 39 North (next to the fire station), in Sherman, CT.
Auditions are Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The call is seeking young girls and boys with good singing voices and outgoing personalities, plus interesting characters of any age. In particular, a strong dramatic actor and a young girl with gymnastic ability are being sought. Also encouraged to audition are those with any special skills, such as juggling, acrobatics, and so forth. Auditioners are asked to bring sheet music of a jolly up-tempo song. An accompanist will be available. Sides from the script will also be available to those auditioning.
The production has been adapted and is being directed by British-native Patricia Michael of Dover Plains, N.Y.
All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. No appointments are necessary. For more details on the auditions and for directions, visit:
