AIDA - Wilmington Drama League

Wilmington Drama League (10 W. Lea Blvd, Wilmington, DE 19802), a community theatre, is holding open auditions for the musical Aida on Monday, January 21st & Wednesday, January 23rd, from 7pm to 9pm.

Looking to fill the following roles:

Amneris - A beautiful and materialistic Egyptian Princess who is the betrothed of Captain Radames. Daughter of the Pharaoh. (of European descent)Age: 18 to 35Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: E3

Radames - An Egyptian Captain and the son of Zoser. A strong, handsome, adventurous soldier who falls in love with Aida. (of European descent)Age: 20 to 35 Vocal range top: G5 Vocal range bottom: B3

Aida - A beautiful, brave Nubian Princess who is loyal to her people but is torn between her heritage and love for an Egyptian Captain. Daughter of King Amonasro. (of African descent) Age: 18 to 35 Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: F3

Mereb - A young Nubian slave and servant to Radames. He is faithful to his Nubian heritage and befriends Aida upon her arrival to Egypt. (of African, European or Asian descent) Age: 16 to 25Vocal range top: Bb5 Vocal range bottom: G3

Zoser - The manipulative and evil Chief Minister hungry for power. He attempts to poison the Pharaoh and is father to Radames. (of European decent) Age: 45 to 60 Vocal range top: Ab5Vocal range bottom: F4

Pharaoh - The Leader of Egypt and father to Amneris. An older, distinguished gentleman. (of European descent) Age: 55 to 70

Nehebka - A Nubian slave who is friendly with Aida. She creates a robe for the Nubian Princess. (of African descent)Age: 20 to 35Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: A3

Amonasro - An honorable and peaceful man who is imprisoned by Egypt. The King of Nubia and father to Aida. Gender: (of African descent) Age: 45 to 60

Ensemble - (males & females of various ethnicities multi-ethnicities and ages) to portray Ministers, Soldiers, Egyptian Men, Palace Women, Nubians, Guards. Looking for ensemble to consist of:- 2-3 singers who dance or can move well - 10 dancers who sing or can carry a tune. Dancers of various backgrounds and disciplines (modern, hip- hop, ballet, gymnastics, etc.) are sought.

What to prepare: For singers, prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song, in style of show, that best shows off your range and storytelling ability. For dancers, prepare a 30 second to 1 minute routine that best show off your skill and technique. All are welcome to prepare both a song and dance to increase their odds of being considered for multiple roles.

Those auditioning with the sole goal of being cast as a dancer do not need to prepare a song; however, those auditioning as singers may be subject to learning a small dance routine if invited to the callback.

An accompanist and a stereo will be provided. For those auditioning for Pharaoh and Amonasro, please prepare a 1 to 2 minute dramatic monologue.Can?t make it? Video submissions are accepted! Send to: WDLAida@gmail.com, along with any questions. Look forward to meeting you at the auditions!
