Hershey Area Playhouse Announces Auditions
for A Gift To Remember
Hershey Area Playhouse is holding auditions for its winter show, A Gift to Remember, on Sunday, September 26 and Monday, September 27 at 7 pm at the Playhouse.
Directed by Lois Heagy and based on the Debbie Macomber novel Can This Be Christmas?, this heartwarming story takes place on Christmas Eve, during a snowstorm, where a group of strangers get stranded on a train due to the weather. They take shelter in a small depot in New Hampshire. Understandably disappointed and dispirited, they try to make the best of things with little success at first but eventually coming to understand the true spirit of Christmas.

Available Roles (All ages listed are playing ages):
CATHY NORRIS (45+) — Recently widowed, she is traveling to spend Christmas with her
daughter. IMPORTANT: Must be able to knit or crochet or be willing to learn
MATTHEW McHUGH (35-45) — A grumpy computer sales rep from Los Angeles who needs
to get home to his family.
ELISE JONES (25-35) — Recently divorced and not well-to-do, she and her daughter are
planning to spend Christmas with her mother; she is frazzled and overworked.
KATE JONES (5-8) — Friendly and precocious, she is hurt her daddy hasn’t been to see her and
that Santa may not be able to find her.
LEN DAWBER (20-30) — A homesick Texas boy on leave from the Navy, he must catch his
flight from Boston to get home to his girl.
NICK AND KELLY BERRY (25-35) — New parents of an adopted baby girl, they are hoping
to take baby Brittany to Georgia to meet her grandparents (Kelly may have a southern
accent).
SAM AND LOUISE LARSEN (50+) — Married couple traveling to attend the birth of their first
grandchild.
AMY (20-25) — Texas girlfriend of Len who works in a senior community as an aide or
nurse.
MADELINE McHUGH (30-40) — Matt’s wife, who is totally at the end of her rope from running
household nearly alone.
PAM (20-30) — Cathy’s daughter in Boston, who feels guilty because she feels she should have driven
to Portland for her mom.
CLAYTON KEMPER (50+) — Stationmaster who feels sorry for those stranded in his
station.
DEAN OWEN (age not a factor) — Choir director and voice of the train conductor
CHOIR MEMBERS — can be 3 women telephone call recipients (Amy, Madeline, Pam) or
extras
Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9
pm. Performances will be held December 2 to 5 and December 9 to 12. For more information, visit
