All auditioners are asked to prepare 16 bars of a ballad or an up-tempo selection in the style of the show that demonstrates both their vocal and storytelling abilities. There will be a dance audition. Please come prepared with appropriate footwear and clothing. Tap shoes are plus, but not a requirement.

Auditions and rehearsals will be held at the Phoenix Performing Arts Center, 59 Chestnut Street in Red Bank. The show will play at the Count Basie Theatre November 11, 12, 13, 18. 19 & 20.

RALPHIE: 9-12 (to play 9, going on 10) A regular kid – cute but not handsome, winsome but not precious. He wouldn’t be lost in a crowd, but he wouldn’t stand out either. VOICE: Boy’s unchanged voice. High belter, low F# to high D. Being able to tap dance is a big plus.

RANDY: 7-9. Ralphie’s younger brother. Smaller than Ralphie; VOICE: Boy’s unchanged voice. High belter, low F# to high C#. Must be able to tap.

SCUT FARCUS: 12-15. He is loud, obnoxious and intimidating. A meanie – Gruff character voice. Must be able to tap.

GROVER DILL: 9-12. Bully #2. Grover Dill is the markedly smaller evil sidekick

* Also seeking lots of supporting parts for kids and adults. From this we will cast
KIDS: Looks 8-13. Schwartz / Flick / Ester Jane / Mary Beth / Nancy / Costumers / Tap Specialty Boy and numerous other kids for ensemble kids.

ADULTS: 18-60’s +. Elves / Parents / Delivery Men / Can-Can Girls / Policeman and numerous other adults for ensemble. A Christmas Story is a show that speaks to the kid in all of us! The adult ensemble, in particular, needs grown-ups who can sing and move well.
