Music Theatre Kansas City will be holding auditions for its 2016 Winter Show: 42ndStreet

MTKC will be holding auditions for its annual winter show, 42nd Street, on Sunday, November 29th. There will be vocal slots available from 11 am – 2 pm, then a required dance call from 2 pm – 3 pm, followed by callbacks until 5 pm. Auditions will be held at City Stage in Union Station. For the vocal audition, please prepare 16-32 bars of a song written before 1960. Please bring your sheet music. To sign up for a vocal audition time slot, please visit
www.mtkc.org. An accompanist will be provided. An optional tap audition will be held on Sunday, November 22nd at Lenexa Community Center from 6 pm – 8 pm . Ages 13-18 are eligible to audition.

42nd Street will be directed by Taylor Avazpour, MTKC’s Assistant Director, music directed by Julie Danielson, MTKC’s Artistic Director, choreographed by Chris Allen, an MTKC Alum and professional actor from New York City, and produced by Cary Danielson, MTKC’s Executive Director. Rehearsals will be held at UMKC from December 26th –January 1st. The performances will be January 2nd and 3rd at UMKC’s White Recital Hall.

This is the story of hard work, being in the right place at the right time, talent and love. 42nd Street is a celebration of Broadway and the people involved in shows. It focuses on aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer, and takes us along her journey. Musical hits include You’re Getting to Be a Habit with Me, Dames, I Know Now, Were In the Money, Lullaby of Broadway, Shuffle Off to Buffalo and Forty-Second Street. Every audience enjoys watching the underdog succeed!
