Spring 2023 Production: Staff Application (Director, Music Director, Choreographer and Stage Manager) - Georgetown Gilbert and Sullivan Society

The Georgetown Gilbert & Sullivan Society is seeking a Director, Music Director, Choreographer and Stage Manager (collectively the “Staff”) for its 2023 spring show!

For fifty years, the Georgetown Gilbert & Sullivan Society—America’s only theater group with its own law school!—has given Georgetown University Law Center students, faculty, graduates, and their friends an outlet for their creative energies and talents. SPRING 2023 PRODUCTION

Performances: March 30, 31 and April 1, 2023

Auditions: January 17 - 20, 2023

Rehearsals: January 23 – March 24, 2023

Technical and Dress Rehearsals: March 26 - 29, 2023 (March 24



(All dates are subject to change, pending approval from Georgetown University.)

Rehearsals generally will be held nightly, Monday–Friday, from 7–10pm.

Auditions and rehearsals will be held at Georgetown University Law Center, 600 New Jersey Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. Performances will either be held at Georgetown Law or in another location TBD, likely the auditorium of a local school or a rental theater space Downtown (our traditional performance venue is undergoing renovations this academic year and so we are a bit up in the air as to venue).

During the rehearsal period: the Director, Music Director, and Stage Manager are expected to attend at least four rehearsals per week (the Stage Manager may only miss a rehearsal if it is covered by a qualified Asst. Stage Manager); and the Choreographer is expected to attend at least two rehearsals per week.

All Staff are required to attend every technical and dress rehearsal as well as any act or show run scheduled as part of the rehearsal process.

The Stage Manager is required to attend each performance.



FINANCIAL DETAILS

For the Spring 2023 Production, the Director and Music Director will each be paid a stipend of $1,950, the Choreographer will be paid a stipend of $600 and the Stage Manager a stipend of $1,250. All stipended staff must sign a contract with Georgetown University prior to the start of rehearsals.

These stipends reflect the total funding available for the positions; additional housing or travel stipends can not be provided.
