SLOPPY BONNIE - a country music drive-in - is seeking three comedic actors who sing for an outdoor + online Spring 2021 theatrical production in Nashville, TN.

Rehearsals begin April 2021.

Performances May-June 2021.



Auditions will take place over Zoom March 19 and 21.

Callbacks will take place in-person in Nashville - outdoors and socially distanced - March 26 and 28.

Performers must have local housing.



All ethnicities and gender identifications encouraged to audition. 18+.

Synopsis:

Deeply moved by some long-forgotten Julia Roberts vehicle, special-ed teacher Bonnie (nee Bonita aka ‘Sloppy Bonnie’ when she’s drunk), sets out on what she hopes will be an inspirational road trip to be with her fiancé, who has ghosted her ever since he left for a revival retreat in the mountains. But at every stop, her day-time tv femininity spells disaster for all in her path—for everyone and everything between Sloppy Bonnie and the one who’s getting away. A fable on the dangers of female subordination. A country western musical comedy about a hapless serial killer.

Casting Breakdown:

Bonnie:

Bonnie, a cheerfully chatty American Starbucks patron, loves Jesus and her car Rosie. Hopeless romantic, fragile psyche.



Male Chorus 1:

Half of a comedic duo playing a range of characters from scum bag to deity.



Male Chorus 2:

The other half of a comedic duo playing a range of characters from diner waitress to ghost of a rodeo clown.



What to prepare:

- 16 bars of a country song

- A 1 to 2-minute comedic contemporary monologue
