Position Description: The Production Director (PD) is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Ballet Hispánico (BH) Company Manager. The BH PD will have full responsibility for logistics and the technical aspects of every BH artistic production. Under the direction of the Artistic Director/CEO, the dance company tours 20-30 weeks per year and self-presents annual seasons in New York; the School of Dance (SOD) also presents annual recitals for which the PD will be responsible. The Ballet Hispánico Production Director is responsible for forecasting and budgeting tour costs, developing production strategy, identification, acquisition, and management of all technical components for each tour and or production while meeting and exceeding the quality standards of each choreographer, designer, artist, and collaborator.
Role and Responsibilities:
•In concert with the Company Manager, the PD will develop production cost forecasting and budgeting both annually and as needed for every Ballet Hispánico production.
•The PD will scout and evaluate performance spaces in advance of performances and or tour date(s) and will proactively troubleshoot potential challenges/risks, where possible the PD will mitigate any potential challenge or production risk to the performance prior to the production.
•Responsible for all production travel arrangements for tours including but not limited to: set production, costumes, and technical instruments.
•Tour with the company, facilitating all aspects of each performance including load in, technical rehearsals, performances and load out.
•The PD will manage the acquisition, logistics and maintenance of all equipment and resources required for a successful tour and or performance.
•The PD in collaboration with BH Operations will maintain and oversee the production systems and elements in BH Studios.
•Development, preparation and coordination of all technical rehearsals and schedules in coordination with the Associate Artistic and Rehearsal Director.
•The PD leads the Stage Manager, Lighting Supervisor and Wardrobe Supervisor to help maintain clear production schedules and production goals.
•Contracting for all outside production related vendors including designers, musicians, vendors, etc.
•Direct and manage all production aspects related to the Ballet Hispánico Annual Gala.
•The PD will oversee the SOD Production needs including coordination with SOD Leadership staff to set goals and standards for successful rehearsals and performances.
•Management of all production-related communication with local and national touring presenters, as well as with local theaters for all performances of the SOD, and performance based CAP activities.
•Management of full communication with technical crew, including Lighting Supervisor, Stage Manager, Wardrobe Director, and Associate Artistic & Rehearsal Director.
•Management of crew hires and any other technical personnel that are necessary for productions as approved by the Company Manager.
•Maintenance of all records of technical requirements, plots, and files.
•Management and assess off-site storage inventory in tandom with Operations.
•The PD may serve as the Lighting Supervisor, and/or Stage Manager as needed.
•Build and maintain positive relationships/interaction with all production-related vendors.
•The PD should also have general knowledge of union relations for both the BH Dancers (AGMA) and theater crews (IATSE or otherwise) in order to adhere to the practices, rules and regulations as outlined.
•Implement Lighting Plots and/or designs as designated by the Artistic Director. It is also understood that all creations are the property of Ballet Hispánico and such creations and/or designs are within the scope of employment of the Employee.
•Oversee all virtual production elements, including performance related productions taking place on platforms such as: Zoom and Streamyard. Success Profile:

•Proficient with equipment and software in the areas of theatrical lighting, electrics, and sound, including but not limited to ETC Element console, Qlab, and Vectorworks.
•Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Requirements:
•Able to stand for long periods.
•Repeatedly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
•Climb stairs and ladders and work effectively at elevations up to 20'.
•Drive, car, minivan, cargo van and/or box truck.
•Valid Passport and Drivers License
Compensation: $90,000
