Gotham Dance Theater - Narrator Auditions - Gotham Dance Theater

Gotham Dance Theater is seeking a narrator for our spring production, an acting role that will narrate throughout a 55-minute dance show. The performance’s script is inspired by text provided by the dancers in the company within the theme of the show. Dance will not be required for the role. Strong movement background is a plus, but not required. Role is non-union and paid.



Character Breakdown

NARRATOR (Female-Identifying, 20-40): Slightly jaded middle manager of the universe. All-knowing, immortal, still subject to a greater law.

Similar to the Emcee in Cabaret, our narrator varies in depth, tone, quirkiness, darkness and light, love and apathy, who also guides and observes our dancers along the stories we create.

If you are selected to audition you will be notified by Saturday, March 5 at 5pm ET. Your selection email will include the location of the audition.



Additional Audition Information Regarding COVID-19



Limited capacity due to limited positions available and Covid-19 restrictions.



At the audition, actors must provide proof of full vaccination* AND a negative COVID-19 test* within 48 hours of the audition date.

Masks will be enforced at the audition. NO exceptions. NO virtual auditions. Extra masks and hand sanitizer will be provided.



*Full vaccination = two doses of Pfizer or Moderna or single dose of Johnson & Johnson; boosters encouraged

*Limited rapid tests will be available onsite.
