The Foote School Summer Theater Program is looking for a theatrical Production Manager who can be an alternate licensed camp director and acting teacher. You will coordinate with the Theater Director / Choreographer for our 2025 five-week camp program. You must be available for the camp dates: June 30 - August 3, 2025. Camp is 9am-4pm Monday - Fridays, including a Saturday Tech rehearsal on July 26. Extended hours during the final two weeks for production preparation. Performances are August 1, 7:00 p.m.; August 2 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. and August 3 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a faculty-led strike until 8:00 p.m. Campers are in grades 7 - 12.
We are looking for a seasoned Production Manager or Camp Director to guide, lead, and assist in supervising and teaching students in support of the Theater Director’s vision and goals for the musical production. Ability to model and teach students the various tasks involved in theatrical production work. Ensure a high level of standards and procedures with calm and professionalism. Provide support to counselors and campers when challenges arise. Motivate students with joyful interactions and team-building activities. Participate in production meetings, manage the production schedule, and assist staff members by providing them with resources and facilities set up.
Lead the daily operations of the summer camp, teach morning acting classes, and assist the Technical Director and staff in production meetings. Ensure the safe operation and communication of camp activities in accordance with the camp mission, policies, and procedures. Experience in working with school-age children and liaising with a small staff of teaching artists.
Position requires the candidate to meet the State of CT OEC Alternate Camp Director qualifications, First Aid qualifications, and CPR training. (Application will be provided). Possible recertification or willingness to be certified as a camp director prior to the start of camp. In-person work at the Foote School, 50 Loomis Place, New Haven, CT 06511. Productions are held in an air-conditioned black box theater and rehearsals take place in large visual art and music classrooms on the campus.
Professional Skills and Personal Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Experience working with middle or high-school age children.
• A passion for teaching and creative leading.
• Strong personal and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to make decisions quickly.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., and be comfortable with stairs and physical tasks
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to the needs in the moment for the students and staff members.
