SALARY RANGE: $75,000-95,000
BENEFITS:
Five (5) working days of vacation will be granted after six (6) months of continuous employment. Thereafter, vacation accrues at a rate of .83 days per month, yielding ten (10) vacation days per year for the first four (4)years of continuous employment, and is capped at fifteen (15) days. After four (4) years of continuous employment, vacation accrues at a rate of 1.25 days per month, yielding fifteen (15) vacation days per year and is capped at twenty-two (22) days.
Additionally, a week off is offered to the full DTC staff each year at the holiday season (exact dates change depending on the year), which does not require the use of paid time off. Paid holidays are listed below and a full list of holidays and dates, including the holiday week, are published at the beginning of each fiscal year.
Three (3) personal days per fiscal year (September-August). Personal days will be prorated if employment begins mid-season.
Twelve (12) sick days per fiscal year (September-August). Up to 8 sick days can be rolled over to the next fiscal year. Sick days are capped at 20 days.

Position Summary
An active member of Dallas Theater Center’s Senior Management, the Director of Production is responsible for all aspects of production at Dallas Theater Center. Duties include hiring and supervising production staff; creating and supervising production department budgets; creating and managing production calendars; overseeing the successful and timely execution of all production elements for DTC productions; advancing DTC’s commitment to equity and diversity in its production and design staff; and ensuring that the production staff culture is positive, efficient, inclusive and collaborative.
DTC is committed to being a great place to work for our production staff. In addition to our racial equity efforts, we have implemented 5-day workweeks for rehearsals and tech, eliminated 10 out of 12s, and have completed a pay equity study. The Director of Production should be, first, committed to the wellness of the production staff, and then, after that, to the excellence of the work created. The people who create the art matter as much as the art they create.
**Essential Duties***
Oversee all production department operations in support of DTC’s artistic vision and excellence.
Manage a full-time production staff in addition to seasonal and over hire employees.
Participate in the recruitment, hiring and supervision of full-time employees.
In collaboration with Artistic Director, Producer, Director of Marketing and other DTC departments, create season calendars, rehearsal and performance schedules.
Create and track all show related budgets and maintain effective methods of financial reconciliation.
In collaboration with production department heads, create the overall annual production department’s operating budget.
Allocate production management duties between the Production Manager and Production Coordinator and support their efforts on individual productions, as needed.
Collaborate with the Artistic Department in the selection and hiring of designers and other visiting artists.
Oversee and manage the production process with clear communication to all members of the creative teams, ensuring proper understanding of the resources available to them as well as design deadlines and an understanding of the theatrical space.
Track work throughout the production process, ensuring that work is completed on time and within budget.
Meet with and brief direct reports at least every two weeks, to ensure they have the information, support and training required to perform their duties effectively.
Cultivate and promote a safe working environment and ensure that DTC’s production department operates in accordance with current health and safety regulations and best theatre practice.
Oversee DTC’s production facilities (including Potter Production Studio, Kalita Humphreys Theatre, Wyly Theatre costume shop and stage) and equipment (including rentals, maintenance, and purchases).
Participate in long range planning and DTC policy with the senior leadership team.
In collaboration with the Manager of People Operations, conduct semi-annual and annual performance reviews with all direct reports.
Collaborate with Artistic Director, board leadership, and national architects to plan for the future of the Kalita Humphreys Theater campus.
Perform work in a manner that is consistent with DTC’s mission, vision and values, including advancing DTC’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Demonstrable experience of theater production with a working knowledge of all areas
Sound creative judgment, excellent problem-solving skills and attentiveness to detail
Excellent time management skills, including managing a high volume of work and attending to numerous projects concurrently
Strong commitment to current best Health and Safety practices
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
Ability to read and disseminate information from design drawings
Sound computer skills including G-Suite, Dropbox, Microsoft office
Working knowledge of AEA, USA, AFM, SDC and LORT agreements
Must be available to work extended work hours at times, including nights and weekends
