Casting Call for Virtual Production of We Are The Tigers - Russo Richardson Productions

Russo Richardson Productions is seeking non-union performers for its virtual production of We Are The Tigers running November 19th/20th, 2021. All rehearsals will take place remotely, and performances will be pre-recorded and streamed. This production is compensated via profit share.



Please note – pronouns listed in the breakdowns apply to the characters, not the performers who play them. We strongly encourage performers to apply for whatever role they most identify with.



RILEY (she/her, 17): Giles Corey’s newest cheer Captain. Riley is bubbly, enthusiastic and determined to get the Tigers to Nationals no matter what it takes. Belt/Mix to F#5.

CAIRO (Black, she/her, 17): Giles Corey’s Prom Princess and most popular girl in school. Cairo is used to getting what she wants, and doesn’t take anything too seriously. Though she may not always let others see it, she’s intelligent, strategic and cunning. Belt/Mix to G5.

KATE (she/her, 16): Sarcastic, cynical and sharp, Kate quit gymnastics to join the Tigers only to stay close to her best friend Chess (who she absolutely does not have a crush on, shut up). Unlike the other Tigers, she doesn’t care much about image, and instead opts for loyalty to her friends above all. Mezzo with folk sensibility.

ANNLEIGH (she/her, 16): Kind, generous, and open hearted, Annleigh is a devoted Christian who has dedicated herself to living a morally righteous life in the eyes of God. Her top priorities are trying to keep her alcoholic step-sister in check, and her boyfriend Clark – in particular making sure she doesn’t stray from her chastity vow. Belt/Mix to F5.

REESE (she/her, 17, plus sized): The Tigers mascot who dreams of finding her way onto the team. Reese is determined, dedicated and has worked her entire life to be the perfect Tiger – but her not fitting into the stereotypical cheerleader box has kept her on the outside. Belt/mix to D5. Strong dancer.

FARRAH (she/her, 15): Annleigh’s stepsister. Alcoholic, insecure and a hot mess. Wishes she could find a way onto more solid ground. Belt/mix to C5.

CHESS (she/her, 17): Friendly, grounded and mature, Chess was on track to becoming an Olympic gymnast before an intense knee injury squashed her dreams. Despite the wishes of her friends and family, she has been using an over-reliance on pain medication to cope. Belt/mix to F#5.

MATTIE (she/her, 14): A freshman and the newest addition to the Tigers. Innocent, bubbly and sweet, Mattie is excited about her future on the team. Belt/mix to D5. Excellent comedic timing.

CLARK (he/him, 18): Annleigh’s handsome, kind, and very patient boyfriend. Baritenor to A4.

EVA (Latinx, she/her, 16): Blunt, not straight, realistic and not one for drama, Eva is the highest ranked flyer in the State, and finds herself wrapped up in the Tigers drama through unusual circumstances. Belt/mix to D5.



Interested parties should submit a one minute self-tape of 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre or pop/rock song at the Google Form listed below. Deadline for submissions is September 21st, 2021.
