The historic Strand Theatre is seeking a new member of the box office team! As a box office team member, your focus is to assist the Box Office Manager in ensuring a hospitable, smooth and efficient operation while delivering excellent customer service to patrons of the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre.
This role is highly visible and interacts daily with sponsors, vendors, patrons, and renters.
You and must lead by example at all times in
- Providing the highest level of customer service
- Maintaining professionalism in manner, dress, and the presentation of The Strand box office
- Embodying The Strand's values of friendliness, inclusivity, and personal connection
This position is best suited for someone with great people and communication skills as well as the ability to multi-task -- after all, when you're in The Strand box office on the bustling Marietta square, you quickly discover that selling tickets is only a part of the experience.
The Box Office Assistant will report directly to the Box Office Manager, and will be responsible for the following:
+ Work in the Strand box office between 18 - 25 hrs. per week, primarily on weekdays between the hours of 11am-6pm
+ Assist patrons with ticket purchases in person and on the phone
+ Answer the Strand’s main phone line; answer questions and direct calls accordingly
+ Check the department’s voicemail and email accounts, and follow up as necessary
+ Update weekly Strand advertising materials and prep for distribution
+ Maintain marquee schedule and design/post marquees as needed
+ Assist Box Office Manager with website and ticketing system updates
+ Assist with facility needs such as upkeep and maintenance of box office and lobby areas
+ Greet and direct meetings and deliveries as the first point of contact for vendors and patrons
+ Other duties as assigned
*Candidates must be available between 11am-6pm on weekdays, as well as some weekends. The box office is open 11:00am - 6:00pm M-F, 9:00am - 12:00pm Saturdays, and two hours before all showtimes.
Required skills:
+ Previous experience in a customer-facing role
+ Efficient Multitasking
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft/Google Office Suites
+ Comfortable speaking with patrons in person and on the phone
+ “Can do” attitude and willingness to proactively approach patrons and offer assistance and information
+ Design skills a plus
+ Close proximity to the Marietta Square a plus
