Audition Notice for The Meeting by Jeff Stetson - Point Loma Playhouse

Point Loma Playhouse continues with auditions for the three-man, one act play “The Meeting” by Jeff Stetson Fascinating and dramatically compelling, this eloquent play depicts the supposed meeting of two of the most important men of modern times: Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Differing in their philosophies, but alike in their mutual respect, the two men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems, both prepared to die for their beliefs but neither aware of how soon their assassins’ bullets would await them.

Zoom audition through December 30 by appointment.

Roles:

Malcom X (35-40) (approx. 6’3”, slim) (must be taller than MLK Jr.)

Martin Luther King (35-40) (approx.: 5’7”) (must be shorter than the actor playing Malcom X)

Rashid (Bodyguard for Malcom X) (aged 30-45).

Prepare a two to three-minute dramatic monologue.

There will be zoom rehearsals beginning January 5 for blocking and character discussion. Expected date for rehearsing in the theatre January 28 to polish blocking and preparing for video recording on February 12. Other Covid-19 restrictions could come into play.
