GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL!

Playwright: Anthony King and Scott Brown
Director: TBA
First rehearsal: August 19th, 2025
Run: September 19 - October 12, 2025

SYNOPSIS: In this two-person musical spoof, a pair of aspiring playwrights have assembled an audience (including big time producers), as an audition for their new, ill-advised project – a big, splashy musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg. With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bev and Deb sing all the songs and play all the parts in their crass historical epic, with the hope that one of the producers in attendance will give them that elusive Broadway contract.
BOTH ROLES ARE PRE-CAST (But we are seeking understudies).

SEEKING:

DEB SIMON: PRE-CAST. FEMALE, 20S – 40s. Deb is a naïve, utterly sincere and earnest woman who never met a cause she wasn’t passionate about. She’s a jack of all trades, master of none, who compensates with an infectious, matter-of-fact energy and focus that would probably sound condescending if she weren’t so likable. She’s incredibly proud of the show she wrote with Bev, and thinks Bev, whom she adores, is a genius. But she's the Idea woman, the one with vision.

BEV DAVENPORT: PRE-CAST. FEMALE, 20s – 40s. Bev is eager to please and thrives on approval. When Bev sings one of her songs, she’s very proud of herself, but she’s too naïve to be a true egomaniac. If anything, she’s excessively grateful for the mere opportunity to create and perform. Bev enjoys getting caught up in Deb’s passion, admires her friend’s Big Ideas, and wants to set them all to music.

THE GAME

Playwright: Bekah Brunstetter
Director: Caroline Jane Davis
First rehearsal: November 11th, 2025
Run: December 5 - 21, 2025

SYNOPSIS: Alyssa and Homer are feeling disconnected in their marriage. Trying to start a family, Alyssa is hyperfocused on work while Homer has recently been laid off and thrown himself into an online video game. Not knowing how to navigate this new normal, Alyssa does what she’s least comfortable with - start a support group for other women in the same situation. These strangers band together to devise a plan to get their partners back as they realize together, and only together, can they end this war.

SEEKING:

ALYSSA: FEMALE, 30s – 40s. She is a high functioning multitasking woman with squishy insides. Our leader. Unable to type-A her husband's emotional crisis and subsequent throwing himself into a video game, she is searching for ideas of how to help them move forward. She’s not typically one for socializing, as she prefers work, exercise, or organizing drawers by herself, but she decides to band together a support group of women to help her navigate this delicate time.

HOMER: MALE, 30s – 40s. Has a master’s degree in biochemical engineering. A loving husband but recently was laid off and has thrown himself into The Game, causing some level of stress in his marriage to Alyssa. He’s adrift and searching for purpose.

CLEO: FEMALE, 20s. A pregnant military wife. This is her entire personality as she’s never really had to expand on it until now. She deeply loves her husband and has recently embraced the joys of marital intimacy, but she doesn't have much experience in the real world, or many girlfriends she can talk to about it. Innocent but can come across as very naive at times.

MYRA: FEMALE, 70s. Up for anything, has a deep desire to expand her social circle. She brightens up the room with her guilelessness and her quiet brilliance. Wise and resilient but don’t ask her to FaceTime with the group chat.

RHONDA: FEMALE, 40s – 50s. A serial online shopper who is obsessed with Poshmark. Quick witted, enthusiastic, always working an angle and appreciates people with a plan.

JEN: FEMALE, 20s – 30s. Quiet, terrifyingly smart, and a bit awkward. All the things that make her an incredible war photographer make her a terrible socializer. Working on opening up but having a hard time.

HEROES OF THE FOURTH TURNING

Playwright: Will Arbery
Director: Jay Briggs
First rehearsal: January 6th, 2026
Run: January 30 - February 15, 2026

SYNOPSIS: It's nearing midnight in Wyoming, where four young conservatives have gathered at a backyard after-party two days before the 2017 eclipse and a week after the Charlottesville riot. They've returned home to toast their mentor Gina, newly inducted as president of a tiny Catholic college. As their reunion spirals into spiritual chaos and clashing generational politics, it becomes less a celebration and more a vicious fight to be understood. Will Arbery's haunting play offers grace and disarming clarity, speaking to the heart of a country at war with itself.

SEEKING:

JUSTIN: MALE, WHITE, 38. A retired Marine sharpshooter; quiet, intense, strong, religious; a hunter; but at the same time plays the guitar, sings, and makes up parables. Recently has been fighting a crisis of how he can live within the secular world and is contemplating joining a monastery.

EMILY: FEMALE, WHITE, 25. Warm, kind-hearted, funny; suffers from severe chronic illness; Gina's daughter but did not go to school with the others; worked in pro-life Catholic charities. Has friends and compassion for people on the other side of the political spectrum and does not find this at odds with her faith. Really wants everyone to love each other.

KEVIN: MALE, WHITE, 28. From Oklahoma; works at a Catholic textbook company; tortured, funny, but can very easily go too far. So much self-loathing that can manifest in the worst possible way with over drinking and absolutely no way of seeing normal social cues. Is VERY desperate for a sign telling him what to do with his life and to understand why he is the way he is. Thinks he is in love with Emily. Also, in lust with Teresa.

TERESA: FEMALE, WHITE, 29. From Connecticut; a conservative journalist and online columnist; brilliant, savvy, confident, acerbic, can come off as cold. Immediately and always speaks her mind, and speaks a mile a minute, she is drawn to debate her fiercely held right wing nationalist beliefs with anyone. Is afraid that she is too private with her love and that she might not know how to love at all.

GINA: FEMALE, WHITE, 64. New president of a small conservative Catholic college; both warm and cold, casual and formal; extremely intelligent and charismatic. Could have been president of the country; had eight C-sections, survived breast cancer, and taught the whole time. Charming, at ease with both students and donors, with a dose of humility and understanding of how the world operates.

THE MOUNTAINTOP

Playwright: Katori Hall
Director: Tinasha LaRayé
First rehearsal: March 10th, 2026
Run: April 3 - 26, 2026

SYNOPSIS: A gripping reimagination of events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On April 3, 1968, after delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside. When a mysterious stranger arrives with some surprising news, King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy.

SEEKING:

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.: MALE, BLACK, 39. Nobel Peace Prize-winning civil rights movement leader. We see him at the end of a long day. Even with that he remains awe-inspiring and immensely charming. He is a brilliant orator, impassioned preacher, and fearless leader. There is a suspicion he has about both his surroundings and for strangers, knowing that there are many factions that would like to see him taken down. Has a deeply hidden vulnerability that no one gets to see. A human who was driven by his unquenchable lust for life in all its extremes.

CAMAE: FEMALE, BLACK, 20s – 30s. A young maid at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. New at her job, this doesn’t prevent her from speaking her mind and connecting with Dr. King. Engaging, inquisitive, charming, slyly funny but has the ability to stand her ground when pushed, she has a world of experience outside the motel. She claims the power that she holds within her body as well as the power that she holds within her mind. She is very human, but also very special.

FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL (OR I LOVE LAVE DASH)

World Premiere
Playwright: Kristoffer Diaz
Director: TBA
First rehearsal: May 12th, 2026
Run: June 5 - 21, 2026

SYNOPSIS: A professional football team is torn between two potential top draft picks: charismatic multiethnic finesse machine Lave Dash and salt-of-the-earth muscle monster Mervin Gufflinson the First. Making the crazy decision to draft them both causes a media meltdown that changes the game. And all sports. And the whole world. And the entire space-time continuum. Featuring an all-star collection of fake moustaches and wigs, this world premiere is an uproarious comedy about America’s obsession with football, the joys of masculinity, and the consequences of having our idols do exactly what we want them to do.

Note: The concept is that all the traditionally masculine characters are played by feminine-presenting performers. Women and all female-presenting performers are encouraged to audition.

SEEKING:

LAVE DASH: 20s. Perhaps the greatest football player prospect of all time. Despite his talent, also looks like a movie star. Probably because he’s the son of two The Rocks (metaphorically). Works in a vineyard that his parents own, choosing the varietals. Shoots guns. The Platonic Ideal of a football player. And a man.

MERVIN GUFFLINSON THE FIRST: 20s. Poor, tough, ornery. Rugged. Manly. Hot. Not a man of many words. The kind of man who drinks milk straight from the cow. While lifting said cow over his head. After taking the tires off a tractor and pulling the tractor without the tires, then getting the tires, and returning the tires to the tractor. Can find your weakness and exploit it without you knowing until you’re dead three weeks later.

SCOUT TRACK: ANY AGE. Includes approximately 10 characters. Very strong comedy chops. Very strong versatility. No fear in wearing a seemingly unlimited series of absurd wigs and or moustaches. While also potentially singing.

OWNER TRACK: ANY AGE. Includes approximately 10 characters. Very strong comedy chops. Very strong versatility. No fear in wearing a seemingly unlimited series of absurd wigs and or moustaches. While also potentially singing.

GM TRACK: ANY AGE. Includes approximately 10 characters. Very strong comedy chops. Very strong versatility. No fear in wearing a seemingly unlimited series of absurd wigs and or moustaches. While also potentially singing.

COACH TRACK: ANY AGE. Includes approximately 10 characters. Very strong comedy chops. Very strong versatility. No fear in wearing a seemingly unlimited series of absurd wigs and or moustaches. While also potentially singing.
