Casting Breakdown
A Note on Casting:
These characters are all real people who are alive or who have lived. Some of them are in the public eye and can be researched. Their ethnic origin is very significant. It is essential. However, the ethnic origin is given not so that it will be replicated in casting but so the actor knows what they are working towards.
If a character is identified as 'black,' it is not the author’s intention that a black person play the role. If a character is identified as a 'woman,' it is not the author’s intention that a woman necessarily play the role. It is possible to put together a company in which, at times, an actor plays his or her appropriate 'type,' but at other times, and most times, they do not. The theory of the play is that an actor has the ability to walk in another person’s 'words,' and therefore in their hearts.
The play was originally created and performed as a one-person play. It is the author’s intention that companies of all sizes, from one to twelve or more, play the play.
It is the intention of our director to create a company of six. We are looking for actors between the ages of 30 and 45. The roles listed below are only possibilities and are definitely subject to change based on the cast and the needs of the production:
Asian Male: Jin Ho Lee, Hollywood Talent Agent, Chris Oh, Shelby Coffey III, Editor in Chief of the Los Angeles Times, Katie Miller, Gina Rae
Latino Male: Rudy Salas, Elvira Evers, Maxine Waters, Federico Sandoval, Angela King, Joe
