Seeking
Equity male and female singers:
All to play high school students. Seeking good singer/actor/dancers for the ensemble and to cover the principal roles. 2 females and 2 males.
Preparation
Prepare a Pop, Rock or contemporary theater song. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided.
Please bring a picture and resume, STAPLED TOGETHER.
Especially interested in actors who are great and unique physical storytellers.

Ensemble
All to play high school students. Seeking good singer/actor/dancers for the ensemble and to cover the following principal roles. 2 females and 2 males.
Zoe Murphy
(17) A sensitive, sophisticated, high school junior. Cool without realizing it, Zoe could care less about the status games and popularity rites of high school. Funny and bright, she has grown up in the long shadow cast by her volatile older brother, Connor, tyrannized along with the rest of her family by his out-of-control behavior. Few rooms are as familiar to her as the inside of a family therapist’s office. Zoe compensates for her brother’s darkness by striving to be warm, nice to everyone, the kind of person who goes out of her way to learn the names of the kids who sit by themselves at lunch. She feels a terrible ambivalence over her brother’s death, finding it difficult to forgive him for all he did, and at the same time to forgive that part of herself that feels nothing but relief in the fact that he’s gone.
Alana Beck
(17) Fastidious, passionate to the point of strident, often prone to melodrama, high school senior Alana is not entirely adept at heeding social cues. She has few friends, but lacks the self-awareness to understand why. Beneath her extroverted demeanor, Alana is in fact haunted by a terrible and abiding loneliness. The death of a classmate—whom she knew only distantly—sets off something unexpected inside of her. She feels compelled to memorialize him, determined that the world never forget him. Alana is transformed by her fixation on the tragedy, driven ultimately by her deep identification with her dead classmate, and the nagging question: is she were to die tomorrow, would there be anyone to remember her?
Evan Hansen
(17) Smart, sincere, and cripplingly self-conscious, Evan prefers to hover in the background, a supporting player in his own life, too afraid to step forward into the spotlight and risk ridicule or, what might be worse, no one noticing him at all. ROLE IS CAST
Connor Murphy
(17) An angry, disaffected loner, Connor has been a troubled kid for as long as anyone can remember, an enigma and a source of endless consternation to his long-suffering parents. ROLE IS CAST
Jared Schulberg
(17) Droll and sarcastic, Jared is forced by his parents to hang out with a family friend Evan, for whom he claims to have nothing but disdain. Jared covers his obvious insecurities with a well-practiced braggadocio and a know-it-all arrogance. ROLE IS CAST
Heidi Hansen
(40s) Evan’s mother. Overworked and stretched too thin, Heidi loves her son fiercely, but fears they have begun to grow apart. She is prepared to do anything to repair the damage. ROLE IS CAST
Cynthia Murphy
(40s) Connor and Zoe’s mother. To Evan, she seems to be the perfect mother, nurturing, available, and willing to talk about anything. To her own children, it’s a bit more complicated. ROLE IS CAST
Larry Murphy
(40s) Connor and Zoe’s father. Though often tense and taciturn, Larry shows a different face to the world, representing for Evan the dad he always wished for: strong, confident and more than anything reliable, someone to be counted. ROLE IS CAST
