2014-15 season, Equity contract roles: THE COCKTAIL HOUR by A. R. Gurney Contract dates: Sep 29 – Oct 26, 2014. Seeking: JOHN early 40s Their “lost” middle son, works in publishing, trying to be a playwright. Living in the shadow of his brother, trying to prove he’s his own man to himself and his father. An Intelligent, usually well behaved WASP with simmering resentments, he is looking to step outside of the role he is asked to play in his family. BRADLEY 70s Well dressed, well educated, well to do. Likes being in control. He is the aging head of this well-oiled WASP household. Role is CAST – replacement only ANN 60s Bradley’s wife of almost 50 years. Wealthy, charming, proper, well-dressed, well-mannered and educated. She has secrets. Role is CAST – replacement only NINA mid 40s Their daughter. Attractive, somewhat eccentric, she feels overlooked within her family. Role is CAST – Replacement only ========= A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Christopher Schario Contract dates: Dec 1 – Dec 14, 2014. This adaptation features a small cast playing multiple roles and one actor playing Scrooge. All actors perform narration of Dickens’ text, as well as scene work. Both British dialect and Standard American Speech are used in this adaptation. Show requires versatile actors who make playful choices and are good with language. All AEA roles (Scrooge, Bob and Mrs. Cratchit, Fan) are CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary. VANYA & SONIA & MASHA & SPIKE by Christopher Durang Contract dates: Jan 5 – Feb 1, 2015. Seeking actors who make big, bold, yet truthfully grounded comic choices. VANYA 50s, living a small life in Bucks County, PA where he cared for his aging parents. He is logically resigned to his life, more or less. He has secret aspirations of writing a great play. He is a pot that simmers patiently until it suddenly and fervently boils over. SONIA late 40s/early 50s. Vanya’s step sister, she is living with him in Bucks County. Discontented and regretful she is questioning the rut she is stuck in. Role is CAST – replacement only. MASHA late 40s/50. Vanya’s sister. A witty, charming, glamorous and successful Hollywood actress, she is deliciously, delightfully and shamelessly happy to admit that yes, it is all about her. Her star may be fading along with her youth, but she is determined to stay young and vibrant. SPIKE 29. An aspiring L/A actor. Sexy and self-absorbed, he is Masha’s new boy toy. His claim to fame is his final callback for Entourage 2. He appears in his underwear and must be comfortable with his body. NINA 20s. A lovely, sincere aspiring actress of unknown talent. Earnest, innocent, star struck and enthusiastic. CASSANDRA Any age. A wacky and outspoken cleaning lady and soothsayer. Preferably ethnic -African American, Latina, Asian, etc ========== OUTSIDE MULLINGAR by John Patrick Shanley Contract dates: Feb 23 – Mar 22, 2015. All characters must have an excellent Irish dialect. Seeking: TONY 70s. A sly and wily old Irish farmer who is hard on his son. Stern and unsentimental, he thinks he knows it all, and is right about everything. He has a dry wit and comes to see the error of his ways. ANTHONY 42. Tony’s put-upon, good-hearted son. A realistic and self-defeating idealist and dreamer, he is a non-confrontational, misunderstood and sensitive man who feels things deeply. Painfully shy, he is secretly in love with Rosemary yet unable to take action. He is a misfit with a shameful secret and a philosopher’s soul. AOIFE 70s. A recent grieving widow, she is in bad health and not too much longer for this world. Blunt and highly opinionated, she has some spunk left in her and calls things as she sees them. ROSEMARY 37. Aoife’s daughter. Stubborn, determined, feisty, practical, she has a temper and is determined to get what she wants once she sets her mind to it. She is determined to have Anthony. Confrontational, proud and beautiful, she is a strong willed woman. ========== THE SUNSHINE BOYS by Neil Simon Contract dates: Apr 13 – May 10, 2015. Seeking: AL LEWIS 70s. Willie’s former vaudeville partner. Well-mannered, polite and pleasant. The straight man in the act. Willing to let bygones be bygones until he can’t. But can still be quite argumentative with Willie. REGISTERED NURSE 50s. African American. A seen it all, no nonsense type. Though she has Willie’s number she gets a kick out of bantering with him. WILLIE CLARK 70s. A former vaudeville star who is not enjoying retirement. An acerbic, sharp and clever curmudgeon. He believes he knows it all. Role is CAST – replacement only BEN SILVERMAN 30s.
