OLDER ALLIE: 70s. Female. Any ethnicity. Suffering from dementia in a nursing home. Sometimes the real world peeks through and she is lucid, but mostly it is all confusion. Does not recognize her husband Noah, who comes every day without fail to read to her from the notebook. A very strong singer. Strong acting skills.
YOUNGER NOAH: Male. Late teens/Early 20s. Any Ethnicity. Handsome. Witty. Poor. Slightly mischievous. An excellent singer (Ukulele/Guitar experience a plus). Strong acting skills.
MIDDLE NOAH: Male. Late 20s/Early 30s. Any ethnicity. Handsome and strapping. Hurting and yearning. As in love with Allie as he was when he met her. An army vet. An excellent singer. Strong acting skills.
OLDER NOAH: Male. 70s. Any ethnicity. Frail but has a crystal-clear memory of his life and his relationship with Allie. Seems curmudgeonly at times but has a heart of gold- especially in his dedication to his wife. A strong singer who has access to emotional vulnerability. Strong acting skills.
JOHNNY/FIN: Male, 20s/30s. Any ethnicity. JOHNNY: A physical therapist at Older Allie’s assisted living facility. FIN: Younger Noah’s best friend. Joyous, determined, rarely stops talking. A very strong singer with great comic timing. Will likely understudy the principal role of YOUNGER NOAH. Strong acting skills.
NURSE LORI/MOTHER: 40s-50s. Any ethnicity. NURSE LORI: A family friend of Older Noah’s and a nurse at his (and Older Allie’s) assisted living facility. She is a woman of science, not feelings.
