Equity actors for roles in THE BEST MEDICINE.
SYNOPSIS: Rachel’s a free spirit in a long-term marriage. That ‘in sickness and in health’ vow is a distant memory, but when her husband gets a progressive, incurable disease she’s thrust into the job she’s least suited for: self-sacrificing caregiver. In this hilarious and poignant play, a stand-up comedy class becomes Rachel’s salvation and a portal to a transforming truth about life and love.
RACHEL: late 50’s-60’s. Rachel’s dynamic energy, courage and exuberance are on full display when her free-to-be-me life is upended by her husband’s incurable illness. Despite moments of abject fear, anger, and sadness, she meets the challenge with irreverent humor and the unshakeable belief that she can meet the moment.
Please prepare one monologue no more than 2 minutes. Please also prepare Sides which will be sent once you confirm your audition slot.
