This audition will be run on a first come, first served basis, beginning on the morning of the audition. The space will be open at 9:30 AM.

SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Surflight Theatre's 2025 Season (See breakdown). Performers are typically cast as a resident company who will perform several consecutive shows during the course of their contract. Surflight rarely jobs in for just one show.
ELF is a stand-alone production. Surflight Theatre is fully committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion in all casting consideration and hiring. All principal roles will be understudied.

Please prepare 2 contrasting musical pieces or a monologue if auditioning for plays. Also, please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

Dale Tremont: 20s-30s, Female. An American society beauty. Ginger Rogers in the movie. Model for Alberto Beddini. Feisty, elegant, strong and yet with a romantic side. Alto mezzo and belt. Exceptional dancer including tap.

Horace Hardwick: 30s-60s, Male. British theatre producer. Great friend of Jerry Travers. Older than Jerry. Nervous. Unintentionally very funny. Bass/Baritone (to E4) British accent. Comedic. Light mover.

Madge Hardwick: 30s-60s, Female. Wealthy American wife of Horace. Dale's best friend. Brassy. Confident. Light-hearted. Alto, mover.

Bates: Any age, Male. Horace’s personal valet. A curious character. Adorably uptight and judgmental. Currently feuding with Horace over Horace’s choice of tie. Group singing only. British accent. Comedic. Light mover.

Alberto Beddini: Any age, Male. Italian fashion designer. Beautifully put together. Very proud. Very eccentric. Very fond of Dale (his muse). Bariteno to G4. Mover.

Violet: The company's Head Secretary and Mr. Hart's Administrative Assistant, she is a single mother and typically stands up for what she believes in. Attractive, strong, ambitious. Female, 40-50, Mezzo belter F3 to D5.

Doralee: A young, sexy spitfire who works at Mr. Hart's office. She is proof that there is more to a woman than just her looks. Female, 20s, G3 to E5 Mezzo belter.

Judy: The new girl at the firm, she has been burned by her husband's affair and is searching for personal empowerment. Insecure, determined, and hopeful. Female, 30-35, Ab3-F5.

Franklin Hart: One of the firm's executives and a notorious chauvinist. He is capable of faking charm but usually shows his true colors as an arrogant, self-absorbed boss. Male, 45-50, C3 to Gb4.

Roz Keith: The attentive office gossip queen and snitch. She has an unrequited love for Mr. Hart and will do anything she can to win his approval. Female, 35 to 45, Vocal range top: C5, Vocal range bottom: G3.

Missy Franklin: Hart's wife, clueless to her husband's true nature. Female, 20 to 35.

Dick: Judy's soon-to-be ex-husband. An average guy, he is sporting a little less hair and a little more paunch than he did ten years ago. Male, 35 to 45.

Margaret: A secretary in Hart's office with a tendency to drink. Female, 30 to 40.

CORA: around 40. Cora's past is eclectic, her horizons broadened by having gone to college.

JESSIE: late 60s/70s. Get on the right side of Jessie as a teacher and she'll be the one you remember for life.

CELIA: age anything 35-50. Celia is a woman more at home in a department store than a church hall.

RUTH: 40s. Journey from false self-confidence of the emotionally abused to genuine self-confidence.

MARIE: 50s. Marie has gradually built a defense mechanism around herself.

JOHN: Annie's husband, 50s. John is a human sunflower. Just the kind of man you’d want in your car when crossing America.

ROD: Chris's husband, 50s. Rod loves it; he drinks a lot but never so much as to have a problem.
