Breakdown

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Vin: 18, African American. Bounced around foster homes growing up. Good high school football player. Tough kid who ultimately proves he has a big heart.

Charles: 18. Joseph's brother. Somewhat of a outsider. Has serious soulfulness and a good sense of humor. Flamboyant boy in a small town. Sharp wit.

Timothy: 28. A charming, intelligent, ambitious reporter. He is writing his own memoirs. Career driven.

Joseph: 29. A former potential Olympic runner sidelined by a series of ailments and family obligations . Just this side of a nervous breakdown. He has a deep love for his family and a desperate longing to break away from them and start his own life. The heart of the play.

Gloria: 59. A former bigwig in the publishing industry recovering from her husband's suicide and a scandal with one of her authors. Sympathetic, damaged woman. Joseph’s nosey boss. She has a knack for saying the wrong things, loopy.

Bill: 74. He is irascible, with a loud and bigoted voice that demands to be heard. He struggles to accept that he is aging. Deeply religious Maronite Catholic.

Two (2) ensemble women: Middle aged. Comedic chops.
