Don Lockwood:
Mid twenties-early 30’s (Actor, Singer, Dancer) LEAD. Handsome Hollywood silent movie star. Classic Song and dance man with plenty of charm and wit. MUST be an incredibly strong dancer trained in jazz and tap. Vocal range G2-Ab4.
Kathy Selden:
18-23 years old (Actress, Singer, Dancer) Young, upcoming actress. Strong willed, confident, beautiful and smart. Ingenue with a bite. Don Lockwood’s love interest. Must have strong voice - Mezzo with mixed belt to C and legit to E, Good Dancer - strong tap
Cosmo Brown:
23-30 (Actor, Singer, Dancer) Don’s wacky best friend and film studio’s head musician. strong comedic timing, Singer - Tenor to Ab, must have great athleticism and physical comedy abilities. Strong tap training a must, pianist a plus
Lina Lamont:
30-40 (Actress, Singer) Glamorous silent screen film actress with a brash and obnoxious personality and a high-pitched, nasal voice. She’s past her prime (Actress with comedic timing, Singer - Character Voice, Mezzo or Soprano, range C4 to Eb).
R.F. Simpson:
40+ (Actor) Louis B. Mayer type. Head of the film studio. Non singing
Roscoe Dexter: (Male, 30-40s) Director of the Lockwood and Lamont pictures, comically high strung and easily frustrated. Baritone.
Dora Bailey:
40+Actress Hedda Hopper type (exaggerated, bubbly columnist)
Miss Dinsmore:
Lina’s diction coach, Grand
The following parts will double in the ensemble: All must be able to dance in a classic MGM style including tap training, most ensemble will need to sing well. Athletic, powerful movers with unique personalities and acting ability required
Male Diction Coach/Man on Screen: Over-enunciating diction
Rod: Excitable film agent/PR guy for the studio
Production Tenor: Soloist in big musical, (Lyric tenor to Ab).
Dora Bailey: Hedda Hopper type
Zelda Zanders: Flapper socialite actress, Lina’s best pal and informant
Olga Mar: Exotic star
Mary Margaret: Mary Pickford type, dating a sugar daddy
Sid Phillips: Flamboyant Director of musicals
