Preparation
2 contrasting monologues (classic/contemporary - dramatic/comedic). If interested in musicals, 2 contrasting songs (uptempo/ballad), bring sheet music in the correct key.

PASTOR GUNDERSON: Male. 40-55. Bari-tenor. Agreeable, ala the Father from MASH. Recently married a new young wife. Pastor of East Cornicopia Lutheran Church of the Prairie in Minnesota.
Strong singer, able to move.

5/27-7/27, 2014

JIM: Male, late 30's. Must play rhythm guitar. Baritone. Leader of the group, good old southern boy. Friendly, funny, easy going, charming.

MARIA: Female. 21-32. Soprano. Spirited, impulsive postulant. Kind and loving, full of a love for life.

BARONESS SCHRADER: Female. 30's-40's. Mezzo. A woman of taste, elegance, sophisticated, dignified and mature.

JOE: Male. 60's. Complicated patriarch full of guilt and anger. Spends his whole life in the pursuit of wealth for the sake of his family, representing the American Dream gone

CHRIS: Male. 30's. War hero, solidly built, a listener, capable of immense affection and loyalty. He sees himself as a martyr of sorts, an idealist, honest man, a self-denier only now able to assert his rights. He finds the day-to-day provincialism of his old life stifling.

KATE: Female. 40's-50's. Mother. Nervous, compelling, truly charming. She is a part of Joe’s secret and has fabricated a web that includes denying her son Chris’s opportunity to marry the girl of his dreams.
