All roles will be understudied/swung.
For Musical auditions: Please prepare 16-bars of an up-tempo song, 16-bars of a ballad, and 1-1 1⁄2 minute monologue. Your second song selection will be sung upon request only. For Non- Musical (straight play) auditions: Please prepare 2 contrasting monologues, no more than 1 1/2 minutes each. Also, bring your headshot and resume stapled together. We encourage members to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms. A waiting room is available on site.

DAWN: 22-40, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Alto/mezzo. Sings well. Anxious, exacting, history-loving waitress.
EARL: 25-45, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Rock baritenor. Unsuccessful, abusive, and manipulative. Married to Jenna.
JOE: 60-80, male-identifying, any ethnicity. High light tenor. Sings well. Curmudgeonly and opinionated but with a heart of gold.
OGIE: 25-45, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Baritenor/tenor. Sings well. Endearingly dorky, stubbornly sincere, history enthusiast, and spontaneously poetic. Lovable.
DOCTOR POMATTER: 25-40, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Tenor. Sings well. Charmingly awkward and endearing. Safe and sincere.

CORDELIA RAGSDALE as DORIS WALKER: 30-50, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Macy’s public relations expert. C4-C#5.
GRACIE DEMARCO as SUSAN WALKER: 8-12, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Doris’ daughter. Precocious and realistic to a fault.
GRADY WILLIAMS as FRED GAILEY: 30-50, male-identifying, any ethnicity. A down-to-earth lawyer looking for love and something of a miracle. Bb3-G4.

HORTON THE ELEPHANT: 20-40, male-identifying, any ethnicity. A2-F4. Sings well. Compassionate and gentle but often misunderstood. Protective and loving.
GERTRUDE MCFUZZ: 20-40, female-identifying, any ethnicity. F3-F5. Sings well. Sweet and timid bird. Kind and loyal. Self-conscious.
MAYZIE LABIRD: 20-40, female-identifying, any ethnicity. G3-Eb5. Sings and moves well. An exceedingly beautiful bird. Self-centered, manipulative. Uses her beauty and skills of persuasion to get what she wants.
SOUR KANGAROO: 25-45, female-identifying. F#3-F5/belter. Sings and moves well. Loud, brassy, stubborn, and soulful.
BIRD GIRLS: 20-40, female-identifying. Excellent vocal technicians to hold three-part harmony AND dances well. Sweet and sincere.

MASHA: 40-60, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Vanya’s sister. Glamorous & successful actor who galivants around the world with her new boy-toy, Spike.
SPIKE: 18-30, male-identifying, any ethnicity. An aspiring actor. Sexy, seductive, boy-toy. Charming. Physically well-built. Strong comedic skills. Comfortable in immodest clothing and shirtless onstage (no full nudity).
NINA: 20-30, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Lovely and sincere, a would-be actor. Starstruck and energetic. Visiting her parents next door.
CASSANDRA: any adult age, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Soothsayer but also a cleaning lady.

TOMMY DEVITO: 25-45, male-identifying, Caucasian. A strong tenor/baritenor who can hold tight harmonies. Ability to play guitar a plus but not required. Natural leader with an attractive bad-boy side.
BOB GAUDIO: 20-40, male-identifying, Caucasian. A strong tenor/baritenor who can hold tight harmonies. Intelligent, sensitive, a musical prodigy.
NICK MASSI: 25-45, male-identifying, Caucasian. A strong bass/baritone who can hold tight harmonies. A quiet dreamer. Recognized as a savant by the other members of the group.
GYP DECARLO: 30-50, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Mafioso. Proprietor at the Sea Breeze Lounge. Tough, New Jersey native.
FRANCINE: 18-25, female-identifying, Caucasian. Frankie’s daughter. Eager to emulate her father’s musical career.

NARRATOR/MYSTERIOUS MAN: 40-60, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Narrator is an intellectual and pleasant storyteller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience. G2- E4. / Mysterious Man is a mischievous vagrant and nosy meddler. Good natured protector and observer. G2-Eb4.
THE BAKER: 30-50, male-identifying, any ethnicity. A harried and insecure baker who is simple, loving, and protective of his family. Refuses to let others fight his battles. Ab2-G4.
THE BAKER’S WIFE: 30-50, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Determined and bright. Leads a simple life and occasionally yearns for more. Proactive in her endeavors. F3-G5.
CINDERELLA: 20-35, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Young and earnest. Mistreated by her stepfamily. Loving and kind. G3-G5.
JACK: 18-28, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Feckless, adventurous, naïve, energetic, and bright-eyed. B2-G4.
THE WITCH: 30-50, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Sarcastic, obsessively protective of Rapunzel, straightforward and aggressive. F3-G5.
LITTLE RED RIDINGHOOD: 15-20, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Spoiled, strong-willed, quick-witted, fearless, youthful, and naïve. Bb3-F5.
WOLF/CINDERELLA’S PRINCE: 25-45, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Wolf is an insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and charming his prey. Bb2-Gb4. / Prince is vain & gorgeous, disloyal, always searching for the next new, exciting thing. B2-F4.
RAPUNZEL’S PRINCE: 25-45, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Equally as vain as his Prince brother, and also chasing the newest, captivating thing. C#3-E4.
JACK’S MOTHER: 40-60, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Browbeating and weary, protective of Jack. Bold, strong-willed, and independent. Bb3-Gb5.
CINDERELLA’S STEPMOTHER: 40-60, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Cruel, demanding, vain, and opportunistic. A3-F#5.
FLORINDA: 20-35, female-identifying, any ethnicity. One of Cinderella’s step sisters. Black of heart. C4-Ab5.
LUCINDA: 20-35, female-identifying, any ethnicity. The other one of Cinderella’s step sisters. Black of heart. C4-Ab5.
CINDERELLA’S MOTHER: 45-65, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Deceased. Her soul guards and aides Cinderella from the tree under which she is buried. E4-F4.
RAPUNZEL: 18-28, female-identifying, any ethnicity. A sheltered young woman who is terribly lonely but very loving. She yearns to experience the world. B3-A5.

BIG CHIEF: 40-60, male-identifying, any ethnicity. Rough around the edges, got some treadwear on him, but can still party all night. Vocally able but can be somewhat growly.
HANNAH BROWN: 40-55, female-identifying; Black-identifying. Not showing her age, smart, hard- working, but also hard partying. And hard praying. Mid-range voice, sense of humor and slyness. Not necessarily a delicate voice but a true one.
WANDA: 30-45, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Tough, generously built, stubborn but warm-hearted, still searching. Mezzo/alto, very tough, but also very appealing. Think Janis Joplin.
TRIXIE: 25-45, non-binary, Black-identifying. Has several personae. Has a natural outrageousness in their outness but must be able to come back completely to and break hearts. The voice has to be pure and communicative. Think Billy Porter without the egocentricity.
JERRY LEE: 20-35, male-identifying, Black-identifying. Young, simply full of piss and vinegar and ready for whatever is out there. You can’t stop him; you can’t even slow him down. He’s the vintage rocker, always ready to go for more. Can have some sand in his voice but needs to be a real singer.
LIZA JANE: 20-35, female-identifying, any ethnicity. Young and a little lost. Having just had her heart broken, she’s come to the one place that might heal it. Real innocence and vulnerability who has a comic spine. The purest of our voices. Mezzo soprano.
