If interested in Shrek and/or In the Heights please prepare 32-ish bars of an appropriate song. If interested in Sense and Sensibility please prepare a short monologue with heightened language

We are especially looking for Latino, Latina, and African American actors who sing very well. Several will also need to be strong dancers. Other open audition dates: Sacramento & Fresno in December, LA & San Diego in late January, Seattle in early February
PCPA has a year round resident company; some roles are already cast.
In the Heights:
USNAVI DE LA VEGA is Cast (understudy will come from the ensemble)
NINA ROSARIO – (Puerto Rican, early 20s Amazing pop mix belter to F5, strong mover) Daughter of Kevin and Camilia, Nina is the only one from her family and group of friends who has made it to college.
KEVIN ROSARIO – (Puerto Rican, 40s to early 50s. Strong singer to E4) Born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Kevin immigrated to New York City with Camilia. Stubborn. Providing for his family is everything.
BENNY- (African American, mid 20’s strong singer to Ab4. Very good mover) Was once a street punk and hoodlum. Now is a responsible, hard-working young man. Benny and Usnavi are best friends.
VANESSA – (Latina, early 20s. Amazing pop mix belter to an E5. Strong dancer) Strong and intelligent. She grew up with Benny and Usnavi. Vanessa dreams of leaving to create her own life away from her family challenges.
SONNY – (Latino, looks to be late teens. Strong singer to a Bb4. Very good mover) Usnavi’s younger cousin, he often hangs out on the street with his friend Graffiti Pete but avoids trouble. Sonny is an extremely intelligent young man; he needs guidance to avoid ending up a street punk.
ABUELA CLAUDIA – (Latina, mid to late 60s. Alto. Belts to C5) Claudia raised Usnavi. She emigrated from Cuba when she was very young. She is kind and the clear matriarch of the neighborhood.
DANIELA – (Latina, late 20’s early 30s, Alto C5. Very good mover) Owns Daniela’s Salon. She is savvy, quick-witted, brassy and outspoken. She is the gossip queen of the neighborhood.
CARLA – (Ethnically ambiguous, early to mid-20s, strong singer and a very good mover) Hairdresser at Daniela’s Salon. Born and raised in Queens. Devoted to her family and friends.
GRAFFITI PETE – (Ethnically ambiguous, looks to be late teens or early 20s, very strong modern/lyrical hip-hop dancer, ensemble singer) He hangs out on the streets, dancing to his boom box music and spray painting/tagging any surface he can.
PIRAGUA GUY is Cast.
Shrek:
SHREK is Cast (understudy will come from the ensemble)
PRINCESS FIONA is Cast (understudy will come from the ensemble)
LORD FARQUAAD is Cast (understudy will come from the ensemble)
DONKEY (Male, High Baritone/Tenor) - A talking donkey who joins Shrek on the run from Farquaad's guards. Easily frightened and pushy, but also an optimist with heart. Excellent singer and comic actor with a huge personality.
DRAGON / SUGAR PLUM FAIRY (Female, Alto with Big Belt) - A dragon that has been charged with guarding Princess Fiona. May double as the Sugar Plum Fairy, who is also the puppeteer fro Gingy.
PINOCCHIO is Cast (understudy will come from the ensemble)
ENSEMBLE OF FEATURED FAIRYTALE CREATURES - Wicked Witch, Humpty Dumpty, Big Bad Wolf, Papa Bear, Mama Bear, Baby Bear, Ugly Duckling, Peter Pan, Shoemaker’s Elf, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, three pigs, guards.
Sense and Sensibility:
Elinor Dashwood – (Looks to be 19) Eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dashwood. Elinor is composed but affectionate, both when she falls in love with Edward Ferrars and when she comforts and supports her younger sister Marianne.
Marianne Dashwood - (Looks to be 17) second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dashwood. Marianne's spontaneity, excessive sensibility, and romantic idealism lead her to fall in love with the debaucherous John Willoughby, though he painfully spurns her, causing her to finally recognize her misjudgment of him.
John Willoughby - (mid to late 20s) A very attractive, charming, yet deceitful young man who wins Marianne Dashwood's heart but then abandons her (greedily) in favor of the wealthy Miss Sophia Grey.
Fanny Dashwood - (Late 20s to 30s) The selfish, snobbish, and manipulative wife of
John Dashwood and the sister of Edward and Robert Ferrars.
John Dashwood - (Late 20’s to 30s) The weak-minded and money-grubbing heir to the Norland estate. At his wife Fanny's suggestion, he leaves his mother and sisters with very little money and remains largely unconcerned for their welfare.
Mr. Thomas Palmer- (40s) Mrs. Palmer's gruff, unemotional husband.
Mrs. Charlotte Palmer - (late 20s to early 30s) Mrs. Jennings' talkative and foolish daughter.
