Breakdown

FULL PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Prepare 1 monologue only, not to exceed 2 minutes total.
To audition for Spamalot, singer/actors should prepare 16 bars of an uptempo or comedic song in the style of the show. Actors interested in auditioning for roles in Peter and the Starcatcher should prepare 16 bars of their choice in the style of the show. It is acceptable to sing a selection from Spamalot.
Please provide one copy of your stapled headshot/resume. All roles available unless otherwise specified below.

Sir Lancelot d/b/a Lance
(30s-40): A Knight of the Roundtable. He is fearless to a fault but through a twist of fate, discovers his 'softer side.' This actor MUST be great with character voices and accents. Also plays THE FRENCH TAUNTER, the KNIGHT OF NI, and TIM THE ENCHANTER. Tenor/Baritone (C3-High E4)

The Lady of the Lake
(20s-30s): A Diva. Strong, beautiful, possesses mystical powers. The leading lady of the show. Great singing voice is essential, as she must be able to sing effortlessly in many styles and vocal registers. Especially seeking actresses of all races for this role. Alto (E3 - High B6)

Prince Herbert
(20s-30s): Tenor singing required. Very good mover. The hopeful and frilly prince who loves to sing and pines for his love atop a tower. Also plays HISTORIAN; NOT DEAD FRED; FRENCH GUARD; and ROBIN’S MINSTREL. Tenor. Good Dancer.

King Arthur

Molly Aster
Any ethnicity. Played by an adult woman. Petite, plays 13 years old. A true leader. Curious, intelligent girl. Strong enough singer for featured solos, Mix/Belt to a C#.

Mrs. Bumbrake/Teacher
Any ethnicity. Male or Female, Adult. Mrs. B is Molly’s nanny. Stiff in the lip, loose in the hip, fun on a ship. Teacher was formerly a salmon, now an ancient, knowledgeable mermaid. Strong enough singer for a cappella solo. Baritone.

Captain Scott
Any ethnicity. Male, Adult. Intrepid Captain of Britain’s fastest frigate. Baritone/Tenor 2, up to F#.

Grempkin/Mack/Sanchez/Fighting Prawn
Any ethnicity. Male, Adult. Grempkin is the mean and malodorous orphanage schoolmaster. Mack is a very bad sailor. Sanchez is a hard-working Spanish pirate with an identity crisis. Fighting Prawn is the King of the Mollusks. Bass/Baritone.

The Black Stache
Any ethnicity. Male, Adult. A famous pirate villain. Heartless and hirsute, suspiciously well-read, partial to the poetical and theatrical. Need skilled comedian. Strong singer, Baritone/Tenor up to G#.

Slank/Hawking Clam
Any ethnicity. Male, Adult. Slank is the vicious captain of The Neverland, without the skill or quality to lead anyone. Hawking Clam is the son of Fighting Prawn. Bass/Baritone.

Smee
Any ethnicity. Male, Adult. Comic side kick. First mate, single-mindedly devoted to The Black Stache. Strong singer, Tenor 2 up to F’s comfortably.

Alf
Any ethnicity. Male, Adult. An old seadog, enamored of Mrs. B. Tenor to a solid A.

Prentiss
Teenage orphan, played by an adult. Ambitious, hyperarticulate, logical. Longs to be a leader. Baritone/Tenor 2 E’s & F’s.

Female. Early 20s. Lovely, sincere would-be actress who is visiting her aunt and uncle next door. Starstruck and energetic.
