Equity boy actors for the role of

YOUNG EMILIO/NAYIB
Boy. To play 12. Must speak fluent Spanish and does not need to sing

All other roles CAST but considering replacements if become needed.

Preparation
Prepare a brief pop or rock song showing range. Bring sheet music for your song; a piano accompanist will be provided. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.

For boys auditioning for Young Emilio/Nayib, prepare a brief dialogue in Spanish and in English.

YOUNG EMILIO/NAYIB
Male, to play 12. Emilio as a boy and Nayib Gloria’s son. Straight forward. Determined. Strong. Must speak fluent Spanish and does not need to sing. PRINCIPAL

The following roles have been CAST. Actors will be considered for possible replacements if needed:

GLORIA ESTEFAN
Female, to play between 20-30, to play Cuban. Initially shy, opens up as the story progresses. Becomes an icon. Sharp sense of humor. Good actress. Must speak fluent Spanish and sing well. PRINCIPAL (CAST)

EMILIO ESTEFAN
Male, to play 30-40, to play Cuban. Confident. Handsome. Sometimes stumbles over his emotions... and his English. Loyal. Leading man with character. Must speak fluent Spanish and sing well. PRINCIPAL (CAST)

GLORIA FAJARDO
Female, to play 50-60, to play Cuban. Gloria’s mother. Brassy. Strong willed. Latin Matriarch. Survivor. Biting humor. Must speak fluent Spanish and sing well. PRINCIPAL (CAST)

CONSUELO
Female, to play 65-75, to play Cuban. Gloria’s Grandmother. Cuban stage mother. Sometimes an apparition. Wise. Loving. Warm. Gloria’s guardian angel. Must speak fluent Spanish and be able to carry a tune. PRINCIPAL (CAST)

YOUNG GLORIA
Female, to play 10-12, to play Cuban. Innocent, but smart and self reliant. Slightly sad, but always full of hope. Must speak fluent Spanish and sing well. PRINCIPAL (CAST)
