Sign-ups for auditions start on Tuesday, February 20th. For registration information and to set up an appointment visit: https://njtheatrealliance.org/annual-combinedauditions . At registration, NJTA will require you to submit your headshot and resume digitally in advance of your audition. Headshots and resumes will be placed in a virtual book that will be distributed to theatre representatives attending. The deadline to register is March 11th, 2024.

New Jersey Theatre Alliance (NJTA), the service organization for the state and region’s 43 professional theatres, will hold auditions in Enlow Recital Hall on the campus of Kean University in Hillside, NJ on Monday, March 18th from 10:00am-5:00pm for Equity
performers, and Tuesday, March 19th from 10:00am-5:00pm for Non-Equity performers. This is a fantastic opportunity to be seen by multiple theatres at once. Representatives from our member theatres will follow up with actors directly if they are interested in working with them.
Actors of color and actors with disabilities are encouraged to audition.
Local New Jersey actors are encouraged to audition.
Equity Actors have 5 minutes. For preparation, two contrasting monologues are preferred: one contemporary, one classic; one comedic, one dramatic. Actors can also perform one monologue if it represents them best. Alternatively, actors may choose to deliver one monologue and a 32-bar cut of a song if singing. Please indicate on your registration form if you intend to sing. If singing, bring sheet music; an accompanist is provided all day.

SYNOPSIS: Recently-divorced Stephen and his millennial son, Ty, set out on a camping trip to their old stomping grounds in southeastern Texas. As an important family event approaches, father and son attempt to survive the woods, and one another, braving the bears and reckoning with the wilderness of their past. Despite low cell signal and high emotions, these two characters try their best to connect in this timely play that illuminates as it entertains. In this honest and poetic comedy about family, playwright travis tate explores masculinity and queerness through the lens of multi-generational Blackness.

TY: African-American. Male. (Late 20s-30) Queer. Stephen’s younger son. A city kid attempting outdoorsman drag. A bundle of neuroses barely held together by a can-do attitude and a wish to impress and connect with his father. He’s flailing but charming. Smart, funny, trying very hard to be in touch with his emotions. We’re rooting for him.
STEPHEN: Black/African-American. Male. (50s-60s) A father navigating a complicated relationship with his adult son, Ty. Tough, intimidating, and almost military; he demands respect at all times. But he has a good heart and is finally admitting to his mistakes.

SYNOPSIS: A comic-drama about a young medical student embarking on a journey he never expected.

Anu Shilpa – CAST. Indian-American female who ages from late 20s to mid 30s over the course of the play, going from a new Standardized patient to an experienced one; An actor who is not afraid to say what she thinks.
William Chen – CAST. Taiwanese-American male who ages from mid 20s to early 30s over the course of the play, starting as an awkward first year to a seasoned professional; a med student whose intelligence sometimes overshadows his bedside manner.

SYNOPSIS: Paris 1952. After tangling over politics with an American tourist, a promising art student spirals into a mental breakdown that derails his life. Thirty years later he discovers why: The tourist was a CIA operative, and the student an unwitting participant in one of the darkest chapters of the Cold War. Based on a true story.

Stan Glickman: moves between mid-late 50s in present day, himself in memory at 25. Jewish but no longer observant.
Sidney Gottlieb: a retired CIA official, mid-60s. Proud of his accomplishments, he is arrogant on the surface, but conceals a nagging conscience he won’t admit to.
Victoria Ortega/Sarah Reeder: Victoria is mid-30s, highly competent lawyer. Doubles as Sarah Reeder, mid-20s Jewish.
Nancy Myer/ Sylvia: Nancy is mid-40s. Doubles as Stan’s older sister Sylvia, ranging in age from her early 30s in memory and early 60s in present day.
Don Birnbaum/Dr. Herman: Don is mid 60s in present day and mid 30s in memory. Doubles as Dr. Herman.

SYNOPSIS: Aislin is getting older. She suffers the inevitable indignities of being human — and hates technology. Stacy, her caregiver is perfectly toned, doesn’t age, and is utterly in control — because she’s an AI entity. And there’s a new algorithm out there called AOS or Approximation of Soul. Does Stacy have it? Oscar nominee and Obie-winning José Rivera examines how we live, die, and form our sense of self in a world that’s increasingly saturated with technology.
