For the Musicals, please prepare a brief cut of a classic musical theatre or 50's rock song and bring sheet music in your key. For the Plays, please prepare a 1-minute monologue. SAM PHILLIPS: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: mid-30s-40s; Vocal Range: Sam does not sing in the play. “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll” and founder of Sun Records who discovered Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and many others including Roy Orbison and B.B. King; a towering and charismatic figure in American music.
DYANNE: Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 20s-early 30s; Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano; She was an aspiring singer and Elvis’ girlfriend; ahead of her time and assertive, she’s a great singer with a wide range; sings solos and back-up throughout the show; an excellent singer.
ROLES CAST:
ELVIS PRESLEY: (ROLE IS CAST) Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 20s; Vocal Range: Tenor, Baritone; Elvis in his 20s at the beginning of his career. Must play guitar; should sound and look somewhat like Elvis without being an “impersonator.”
JERRY LEE LEWIS: (ROLE IS CAST) Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 20s-early 30s; Vocal Range: Tenor; He was rock ‘n’ roll’s legendary piano prodigy and celebrated “Last Man Standing.” A superb piano player, able to play like Jerry Lee Lewis; fun, energetic; comic skills a plus.
Carl Perkins: (ROLE IS CAST) Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: mid-20s; Vocal Range: Tenor; He was the American pioneer of rockabilly music and best known for his song “Blue Suede Shoes.” An excellent lead guitarist.
JOHNNY CASH: (ROLE IS CAST) Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: late 20s-30s; Vocal Range: Baritone, Bass; Johnny Cash at the dawn of his epic career. Able to play guitar; tall; should sound and look somewhat like Johnny without being an “impersonator.”

OLIVER WARBUCKS: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 40s to 50s; Vocal Range: Baritone to a high F. A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish. A powerful billionaire, who always has his mind on business. Able to move well and possess comic ability. May be required to shave head.
MISS HANNIGAN: Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 30s to 50s; Vocal Range: Alto, F5 to A3. Desperate and unhappy with her lot in life, she is the alcoholic orphanage matron who is Annie's nemesis. Able to move well and possess strong comic ability.
GRACE FARRELL: Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 30s to 50s; Vocal Range: Soprano to high G. Loyal and intelligent private secretary to Oliver Warbucks. She brings Annie and Warbucks together. Able to move well.
ROOSTER: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 40s to 50s; Vocal Range: Tenor to high G. Miss Hannigan's no-good greedy and dishonest brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man. Able to move well and possess comic ability.
LILY ST. REGIS: Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 30s to 50s; Vocal Range: Soprano up to a high G. Rooster's cheap, shady, floozy girlfriend, who is out for a quick buck.
FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 40s to 60s; Able to imitate Franklin Roosevelt. Able to sing and move well and harmonize.
ROLES CAST:
ANNIE: ROLE IS CAST. Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 10 to 13; Vocal range: Low A to High F; A streetwise but optimistic orphan with a heart of gold, she is eventually taken in by Oliver Warbucks. Spunky, friendly. Possesses excellent singing and acting skills and moves well. May be required to dye hair.
DUFFY: ROLE IS CAST. Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 14 years-old; Vocal range: Low A to High F; The oldest girl in the orphanage.
JULY: ROLE IS CAST. Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 12 to 14 years-old; Vocal range: Low A to High F; The quietest girl in the orphanage.
KATE: ROLE IS CAST. Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 7 to 8 years-old; Vocal range: Low A to High F; The second to youngest orphan.
MOLLY: ROLE IS CAST. Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: age 6; Vocal range: Low A to High F. One of the youngest orphans.
PEPPER: ROLE IS CAST. Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: age 10-14; Vocal range: Low A to High F. The toughest girl in the orphanage.
TESSIE: ROLE IS CAST. Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: age 9-11; Vocal range: Low A to High F. The crybaby of the orphanage.

GREG: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 40s-60s; A highly likeable married man befuddled by the classic mid-life crisis (mostly about work) who impulsively adopts and falls in love with a stray dog. Married to Kate.
KATE: Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 40s-60s; A middle-aged college academic (Shakespeare scholar) with her kids finally out of the house, she is excited and ready to finally be able to focus on her marriage and her own career. Married to Greg.
TOM/PHYLLIS/LESLIE: The following roles are played by one actor. Any Gender; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 25-60s; TOM: A man in the dog park who dispenses some commonsense advice. PHYLLIS: A hotshot Manhattanite, Kate’s friend from college, prone to drama and drinking. LESLIE: An androgynous (and possibly bipolar) psychiatrist who lets the clients choose his/her gender during their sessions; a comic relief character.

SYLVIA: (ROLE IS CAST) Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 20s-50s; A dog played by a woman. Good comedic timing and physical comedy skills required.

MOLLIE RALSTON: Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 20s-30s; New owner/hostess of Monkswell Manor and anxious about hosting the inn's first guests. She’s been married to Giles for one year.
GILES RALSTON: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 20s-30s; Owns Monkswell Manor with his wife Mollie. He’s somewhat arrogant and jealous of the other guests' attentions toward Mollie.
CHRISTOPHER WREN: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 20s-30s; The first guest to arrive at the hotel, he is a hyperactive young man who acts in a very peculiar manner. Claims to have been named after the architect of the same name by his parents.
MRS BOYLE: Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 40s-60s; Mrs. Boyle is an imposing woman in a bad temper. She complains about everything. She is disapproving of every effort that Mollie and Giles attempt to make her comfortable.
MAJOR METCALF: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 40s-60s; Major Metcalf is middle-aged, square-shouldered, military in manner and bearing. He is friendly and very polite and serves as a good counter to Mrs. Boyle during the play’s first act.
MISS CASEWELL: Female Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 20s-30s; A strange, aloof, somewhat masculine woman who speaks offhandedly about the horrific experiences of her childhood.
MR PARAVACINI: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: 30s-50s; A man of unknown provenance who turns up claiming his car has overturned in a snowdrift. He appears to be affecting a foreign accent and artificially aged with make-up.
SGT TROTTER: Male Presenting; Any Ethnicity; Age Range: late 20s-early 40s; Detective Sergeant Trotter is a cheerful, commonplace man who arrives at the guest house on skis to investigate a local murder.
