Equity actors - 3 contracts available for the 5 roles. Atlanta-based actors strongly encouraged to audition.
PREPARATION
Sides will be provided. If you have not been seen at Horizon before, please also prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues. Please bring two photos and resumes, attached.

BREAKDOWN
Alix lives with her family in a tiny motel room, caring for her brothers while her newly divorced mom figures out a plan. Her classmate Mason lives alone in a grand, empty house, composing music while his absent father runs jobs for the Hong Kong mafia. Until the day his father disappears and Mason has to figure out how to come up with grocery money and dodge Child Services and U.S. Immigration. Mason and Alix develop an unlikely friendship, learning to scrape by and trying to outrun their parents’ mistakes together. A play about motel kids and parachute kids raising themselves and living without a safety net in a land of plenty.
SEEKING:
Mason – 18+ actor to play 17.Male, Chinese. Mason lives alone surrounded by wealth, music, and loneliness. He longs to connect with his father in Hong Kong through more than their regular Skype calls. Creative and charming with a chip on his shoulder. Actor must play guitar, string instrument or keyboard proficiently.
Alix – 18+ actor to play 17. Female, American (Caucasian, Hispanic or Mixed Race). Resourceful tomboy forced to grow up fast and take charge and care of her family. A dreamer whose dreams have been put on hold. Driven, passionate, resilient. Dreaming of art school, alternative type.
Fiona – 40’s, female, American (Caucasian, Hispanic or Mixed Race). Alix’s mom, overwhelmed by the weight of her responsibilities. Uses her physical charms as a means of security and survival. Vulnerable, lost, funny.
James – 40’s, male, Chinese. Mason’s absent father who lives in Hong Kong where he oversees a shady and dangerous business. Imposing, strapping, cocky, charming.
Oscar – 18+ to play 17. Male, American (Black/Hispanic). Alix’s friend and potential suitor. Oscar has big dreams, charming swagger, street smarts, and lots of heart. Sensitive and well-intentioned, but can become easily heated and jealous.
