Breakdown

2015 SEASON:

SWIMMING AT THE RITZ AMERICAN PREMIERE
BY CHARLES LEIPART
DIRECTOR TBA

Rehearsals begin on or about December 15, 2014
Performances January 8, 2015 thru February 1, 2015

Pamela Churchill Hayward Harriman, the ultimate party girl, has been living an idyllic life at the luxurious Ritz in Paris for the past several years accompanied by her young Italian valet, and has been spending her and her step children's vast inheritance on paintings, clothing, jewels, furs, champagne (her day-to-day necessities). But her step children's attorneys are about to shut her down. On the verge of losing everything, with the creditors literally at her door, Pamela reveals her journey from man-to-man and bed-to-bed, in a funny, poignant tour-de-force.

Seeking:

PAMELA:
Pamela Churchill Hayward Harriman, presently the U.S. Ambassador to France; a woman of a certain age (60’s), she is exquisitely coiffed and groomed, looking much younger than she really is. (A note on PAMELA’S speaking voice: PAMELA speaks in a low, throaty voice with an attractive slight catch or croak to it. She uses this to theatrical effect. She has the barest trace of her native British accent as she has not lived in Britain for the past forty years. She has made a conscious effort to Americanize her speech by flattening her vowels and there is a touch of Virginia horse country where she has kept a house for twenty years)

PIETRO:
A handsome young Italian in his 20’s-30’s; valet at the Paris Ritz Hotel.
